Night Owls
Has anyone else noticed the night owl hours we post and reply? Nice to know I am not the only one up all hours of the night. I probably have a sleep disorder!

Re: Night Owls
I get up at 0600 (that's sleeping in if I was on day shift) and then lay down for a 3 to 4 hour nap about noon before going to work that 1st night on back shift.
I am too old to be awake more than 20 hours at a time anymore.
And switching from days to nights and back messes up my coffee intake.

Now that I have CoVid, I sleep and wake up at strange times.
I probably will change back in a few weeks when I get better.

Re: Night Owls
I work rotating 12 hour shifts and it is really starting to take a toll on me. I hate the first day back on nights and the first couple days coming off of nights.vancelw wrote: ↑Tue Dec 29, 2020 3:26 am I get up at 0600 (that's sleeping in if I was on day shift) and then lay down for a 3 to 4 hour nap about noon before going to work that 1st night on back shift.

Re: Night Owls
I've been on the same general schedule for years, bed at 2230, up at 0430. My wife thinks I have a problem. "People need more than 6 hours of sleep", not this one! Not sure why, but I figure I am on the left hand side of the bell curve. Been this way since I was 15. I only change up my schedule when I'm at sea for the sake of watches. The first day is tough but then things settle in quickly.

Re: Night Owls
For many years I was a forced night owl. Now that I’m retired I find old habits hard to break. Especially since I have discovered naps.

Re: Night Owls
I'm sure not up to notice anyone posting late. If I'm up past 10:00 pm there's something strange happening that requires me to be up that late. Rarely sleep in past 5:30 am, and often up earlier.

Re: Night Owls
COVID definitely messes with your sleep cycle. I'd be up around 2-3 AM, let the dogs out and goof around for a couple hours. Then a couple 1-2 hour naps and then out by 7-8 PM. My wife and the oldest boy weren't affected quite as much but we were all napping during the day. I don't think this house has ever been that quiet.
A bad cough was my worst issue. An Albuterol inhaler took care of 99% of that, but you can feel when it's wearing off.
Hope you feel better soon!

Re: Night Owls
I am a night owl, and since I have retired I am bad to stay up until midnight and sometimes a late as 2 am. And sleep till maybe 8:30 am. But I am often up by 7:30. I never liked getting up early, even though I had to do it, most of my life.

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres
