Got the Wuhan crud
Got to feeling poorly yesterday morning, be afternoon feeling VERY poorly indeed. 99.9 temp, shakes and shivers, headache, continuous dry cough, got so weak I got the staggers and had to have help to get up out of the chair. Also got somewhat fuddle headed, even worse than normal. I was the epitome of "one sick puppy".
Wife grabbed me up, threw me in the car and got me to the ER about 5 PM. Got blood test , yup they said, you have the Corona.. There was no room in our local hospital so they send me by ambulance to the hospital in Riverton, about 30 miles away. They put me in an isolation room and immediately started treatment, got some steroids and an IV bag of Remdesivir I suffered a miserable night but started to come alive again by about 5 AM. By 8 AM temp was back down to normal along with all other vitals .
Got a nice big breakfast of soggy waffles , OJ and coffee , which I wasted no time devouring , having eaten nothing in the last 24 hours. Got another blood test, couple of specialists came in to interview me, finally about 9:30 the doctor released me go home into 10 day quarantine.
I firmly believe the Remdesivir saved my bacon, being 80 years old and being in hospital with the Chinese crud is not all that conducive to a long and happy life, dont mind telling you I was pretty concerned. I spoke to maybe 6 members of the staff down there and they were all effusive in their praise for the drug, It doesn't cure the virus but cuts it way back so only a day or two for most patients when the virus can be treated early.
Folks, the Corona virus is real and dont let anyone tell you different. If you have even the SLIGHTEST amount of symptoms, go IMMEDIATELY and get tested, or at least call in to your provider. Dont think it will get better by tomorrow, it wont . Dont mess around with this, I would hate for anyone to go through this.

Glad you’re on the mend ! My idiot sister in law went to the government office where she used to work (this is in the Philippines) for a birthday party . Three days after she was there the local health department contacted her to say someone in that office tested positive for the crud . Now if the idiot lived alone that’s one thing but she lives in the same house with my wife and 87 year old mother in law . And usually my daughter who is asthmatic and grandson are there . I told my wife to tell her if she got it and passed to any of those for she best hope she didn’t survive because when I got over there I’d make her wish she hadn’t . Her older brother my brother in law pretty much told her the same thing .

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
When I get a chance I may post the gory details of my own experience with it.
That, combined with what I've seen patients go through, has me convinced of three things:
1. Masks are worthless
2. Zinc and Vitamin D are VERY helpful to reduce risk and symptoms
3. Hydroxychloroquine is VERY helpful if you have heavy exposure or symptoms
If all the above fail and you need inpatient treatment, remdesivir and other Rx's are very helpful.
The Democrats just want us to virtue-signal with 'universal masking' and get ill enough to be terrified and accept whatever 'lockdown' they impose.

Jerry, so glad you made it out the other end of the tunnel!
Doc, I am taking zinc and getting Vitamin D (can't help but get it here in the desert) the natural way. Fingers crossed, and godspeed to the folks at Pfizer/BioNTech.

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
Happy to hear you are kickin the crud to the curb!
I'm hearing of more people being exposed with this 2nd round.
Total agreement Doc, the mask is worthless. Be it N95 or surgical or bandana- they just don't stop stuff as small as a virus .

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
Glad to hear you are beating it! A friend of mine was released from the hospital yesterday after being in there 10 days due to it. Talking on the phone last night he said it was the worst experience of his life after Khe Sanh. Here's to a speedy and full recovery.

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
Just looking over the abstract of this study of remdesivir, there seems no question it can be a big help for patients presenting with COVID-19.
I hope all the "little" hospitals like mine here in Alamogordo are up to date on these new treatments. The virus is being very aggressive in my county right now.

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
We went through that in early April. I had it worse than my wife, though I worried more about her because of a compromised immune system.
The worst part for me was the muscle pain in my back and thighs.
But I was foggy in my brain for more than two weeks after the other symptoms went away.
Glad you got through it. God bless.

Stay strong Jerry ,one day at a time. .
Re: Got the Wuhan crud
My wife got it back in the summer and her symptoms were GI. Had to take her to the ER and they did very little they wouldn't hardly come into the room to check on her. Never gave her any meds except for nausea. I just don't think these little rural hospitals are all that much on the ball at least in my parts. She did get over it after about five weeks and she seems to not have any long term effects of it. Hope that you are fine with no long term problems too. Glad you were able to get some meds that helped also.

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
Well, congratulations to all for beating the ChiCom virus, and prayers up for our futures. I plan to continue washing and being clean in general - as taught when I was a kid.
And I’m sad to read “the mask” doesn’t defeat this virus. If it does work, then we’ve also beat the common flu and every other virus and cut the cost of research, surgery, infectious diseases, etc!!!
We’re definitely hearing good results about the new meds & treatments! Great! And Thank You!

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
Had the crud in March. But Because I wasn't spiking a fever not much was really done. Heck it took until a few weeks ago to get an antibody test to show I had the stuff.
The thing to remember is you can get it just walking by an infected person. Masks do not keep you from getting it, they keep you from spreading it.

Re: Got the Wuhan crud
I lost a elderly friend of the family to it last month. Now that they have a drug that work's Biden want's to send it out to everybody in the world. American's should be the first to receive it! After it's distributed to what friend's we have in the world, charge China hundred's of billion's if they want to buy it!
Re: Got the Wuhan crud
I think I had a mild case about 2 mos. ago. Aches, no appetite, fever up to 100.9. Lasted about 38-40 hours, but it was a couple days before I really felt like eating or going to the range.
I think I got it from something I touched at the grocery store.
Read a pretty good article by a research chap. He contends it's a time and concentration deal. Makes sense. Our baseball team was only in the clubhouse for a few days, all masked up and supposedly disinfecting everything all day but about 1/4 of the team tested positive. His argument is that you don't catch it from people you pass in the store, unless they cough or sneeze on you and then the mask is totally ineffective, but rather being in a confined space for a period of time. The other danger from the mask is people constantly touching and adjusting then touching things that you end up touching. I use hand sanitizer any time I come out of a store, and now know which gas stations have sanitizer by the pumps. Keep it off your hands!
