Keen for the next cricket test, lads?

Post by Bill in Oregon »

I never thought soccer would be popular, so I could be wrong, but believe this may be an uphill battle. I did not know Ameria sported 1,000 clubs in the mid-1800s.

It's a great way to spend a summer afternoon as long as the bar is open........ 8)

I'm afraid that much like our common language spoken differently, cricket doesn't always translate well to American tastes. But then again I'm not much of a stick and ball sports guy so what do I know? I don't watch any of it.

That makes more sense....... I once watched a game of Cricket when some Korean tourists asked me to explain the rules, I said Cricket has more rules than a dog has fleas it would take too long to explain other than the basics. Like I said, it's a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon as long as the bar is open..

I read once (I forget where I read it) that the reason the British invented Cricket was to teach a sense of eternity.

Like Doctor Who, I thought Cricket was still the same game with different faces going after over 50 years.

Jim, then our pastor at the First Christian Church in Tacoma, Washington, must have been a cricket player, as his sermons went on for eternity for this 12-year-old ...
