Hello everyone, I just signed up on this forum as I've been bitten hard by the lever gun bug. I own several in both rim and cf and was looking for a place with great information for what I'm sure will be (to some) questions most people already know the answer to. I currently have six lever rifles, the latest being a modern Win 1886 in 45-90 that I picked up at an auction today. I do believe it's NIB as there's still factory grease on the follower and I can see no powder residue anywhere.
I'm looking forward to learning more about these marvelous machines. My only regret is not discovering how much fun lever actions are decades ago.

30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

I recently inherited a Browning "Winchester" 1886 and have been shooting it a lot. Might be my new favorite rifle. I had not shot it since I was a kid. The first day I took it out my arm looked like someone beat the hell out of me but it sure was fun. The last couple time I shot it I threw a jacket on and the arm is fine.
I grew up shooting lever guns but pretty much got away from them as I got older. They are a ton of fun. I am dreaming of getting some originals. I really want an original 1886 but the Wife might divorce me when I tell her what they cost.

Welcome. There is a lot of knowledge on this site. I have a few more leverguns than you and am constantly searching old topics for new information. If we may be of assistance just ask.

I'm in NW Iowa and have a Win 94/22 that I believe was made in '76 along with a Henry Silver Eagle. For CF I have a Henry "original" in 45 Colt, a modern Win '73 also in 45 Colt. I also have a newer 1886 Deluxe in 45-70 along with today's purchase of a 1886 in 45-90.
The Henry original has the smoothest action out of the box I've ever felt, not only of lever actions but also quite a few bolt action rifles I've handled. The '73 has one of the best triggers. I'm looking forward to getting the 45-90 on paper soon.
