Amoskeag Auction

Post by 6pt-sika »

Since the “tropical storm” caused the sporting shoot to be cancelled today I went to the shop worked a bit and kept the Amoskeag auction live on my laptop . Plus I had a couple bids in . I ended up getting a circa 1883 Parker Grade 2 top lever 10 gauge hammer gun on a 3 frame with 30” barrels .

To be honest I’m not sure . I think 12-14 of this brand and three others . There’s a completely restored Parker Grade 2 top lever 8 gauge on a 6 frame with 34 inch barrels I’d love to get but it’s oughtta my price range . Here are a couple pics of the 8 .

Shoot em ! Heck I hunt with them until I kill something with them atleast . I derive a lot of satisfaction from knocking over a deer with any of those old doubles with loads I put together .

As usual getting your purchase from these larger auction houses takes awhile .

I sent them a check to save a bit on the buyers premium rather than using a credit card . And they got my funds ten days ago . So I called today to check the status and they told me it was in the present group that are being packed for shipment . So "hopefully" I'll recieve it middle of next week !

I shot a round of skeet Tuesday night with the old 10 gauge and went 23 of 25 thought that was decent with a F&F gun . But boy that gun points well , the stock dimensions are not what the typical gun from 1882 would have been . Drop is very minimal .

That's some pretty impressive shooting! With those chokes and loads I'll bet there was nothing but black puffs.

You did shoot gun down on station 8 didn't you? :D

Well, that's a lot of gun to get moving to hit on station 8. I used to have a pre-war Savage over and under with full choked 32" tubes. I didn't shoot that one gun down out there either.

The trip I took this newest to me 10 gauge I carried along a Browning Broadway 32” I’ve not had a year yet and shot two rounds of 16 yard trap , but the trip before that I shot a round of skeet with the Broadway and yes I dropped a couple but it proved to me 32” at skeet isn’t as bad as I had thought . I’ve had 26” and 28” tubed skeet guns in the past and have been contemplating getting another . So now I’m thinking I might tube a trap gun with 30” or 32” barrels for a do all gun skeet/trap/sporting .
