New (to me) Schofields Edit: Now with holsters I made

Post by Rube Burrows »

Well these are not lever guns but I know the good people here can appreciate this trio of single actions that followed me home yesterday.

Went in to get the Taylor's and Co Schofields and the Ruger Single Six in .22LR/.22mag begged to come home with me also.

The Schofields are in .45 Colt. I have always wanted a Schofield or two and someone listed these on the SASS page with action work at a great deal so I jumped on them. I am more than pleased.

Love the looks of the old Schofield revolvers. I had a chance to buy one when Smith & Wesson did a run on them and passed it up. Has to be one of my biggest regrets in passing up a gun. Let us know how they shoot.

Your on a roll Rube......great choices in style...nothing like a single action. I've had several original Smiths in 44 Russian and they were excellent shooters...one was like new but Kirk D wanted it more than me so now it's in Canada.....

As the guns you have are of top break design (except the ruger) you may enjoy plinking with it with 200 grain bullets more.......less recoil and easier on the gun......any design will work including 180-200 gr. swc' s designed for the 45 auto. Buy or cast em at .452, keep the loads light and you'll be ok.....__---006

Great score. I always liked the Schofield. Never owned one.

Very cool!
The Schofields are a lot of fun. I'd like to pick a second one to go with mine.

For sure. I already load using 200g RNFP bullets. May try some swc's and see how they do.

That leatherwork is great. The guns and the holsters are certainly something to be proud of.

Dang Rube, You are GOOD! Nice pistols but those holsters are great. I had a Schofield once, for about 30 minutes. Some old boy came along with a SAA that was about as bad as they come but with a 3 digit serial no. he wanted to trade for the Schofield so there it went. Can't remember where that Colt went.

If only we had all the guns we ever owned. I know I have had guns that I can never buy back now but would love too. Thanks for the comments on the holsters.

Those would look right at home at a Bar-B-Q. Don't let Griff see them. He might abscond with them to just show off at a C.A.S.S. event. (Just kidding.) But, they would sure look good at any Cowboy event.

Thank you. I wanted a pair of Schofields for a long time also. When I had the extra money I could never find the right pair. When money was tight I would see them everywhere. Then it all came together.

The leatherwork shows some skill. Compared to my amatuer effort on the knife sheath, it really shows the difference in ability.
