Let's See Your Canine Buddy

Post by Blaine »

Odie is a super watch dog. He catches every little sound. It's unnerving, at night, when he stares into the brush and growls.... He can be one mean EssoBee if he's being protective....

Yellow lab is Ruger he’s almost two and a bit of a nut.
Dobie is Marlin this was when he was still a pup he is somewhat taller now and 165 pounds. He is very playful until it is time to be serious then he gets VERY SERIOUS VERY QUICKLY sounds like an old fat guy I know!
Then Winchester is the brown lab, he is the old man in the group 8yo ish. Doesn’t do much anymore but is fun to be around.

Yes, Claro. Complete rupture of ACL. She had a plate installed in her knee, developed an infection and had to have the plate removed.

They're all good dogs but Jackson and Bandit are the best watch dogs I've ever had. No one can get close to

I really miss our Great Dane. Lucy was one of the coolest dogs ever.

Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.

History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.

My Springer Chico is 14 now. Photo is from 18 months ago. He is having a very tough time these days, but he hangs on. Ranger is my daughter's Shepherd/Rottweiler mix. He boards with us when she is at sea. Which is most of the time sometimes. Ranger has sharp eyesight and hearing, Chico is stone deaf, which gets him disoriented sometimes. Ranger runs like a deer, Chico can barely move, but sometimes he trots because that gait might be less painful. Yesterday he tried to run alongside when I retrieved the mail on the bicycle. He is on continuous pain meds, so sometimes he gets some help that way I guess.

Our 8 lbs. of fun. She wont let me get more than 10 ft. away, and never leaves my side inside or outside the house. Never barks, or bites at anything, or anyone. Loves to play and run, but just as good at relaxing and sleeping, as the above picture shows.

Grizz, so sorry to hear Chico's having a rough time of it. Our family always had Springers but my first one on my own almost 40 years ago was Chico too! Great dog. I've had a few since but your first is always extra special and I still miss him! Nothing like a Springer.

thanks gak... a couple more images... I was adjusting an anchor on the beach when Chico discovered that his pet uses heavy whipping cream in the coffee... then a pack photo of the tongue inspection, with two happy smiles in anticipation of their second favorite thing; going in. first favorite thing: going out. can we go out now? can we go in now? etc.

I like this game -- I'll play too.

On our summer vacation, I got into taking a few images in black & white -- which works OK with a black lab.

Here's my buddy JACK DANIELS.

( I will try to convert that one into an "ink pen" or "charcoal" image using a photo conversion program; think it would look neat. )

Small amounts of coffee, according to my Vet, do not hurt a dog. The cream in that is probably just fine. Feels good to find something that we can share with our friends.

My best pal...Miss Apple, our Shih Tzu

Image

Took the next pictures 15 minutes ago....we have a mess of foxes that come to eat every night....Miss Apple barks like crazy at them....in the first pic, Miss Apple is at the front door barking...the fox looked at her and the dog got scared and jumped on the couch in the next pic. Big tough dog! :D

My rescue dog in the back yard is a Rhodesian Ridgeback. He likes to hug me and PillHer, but that fox would be in big trouble. Name is Flint Bear. I gave him the name Flint after my favorite book. PillHer added Bear because of his size and his way of just knocking over any other dog that gets unpleasant with him. He likes to hug and play with humans, but our neighbor's pit bulls are scared of him. They got into my yard once. He took both of them on at the same time. They required emergency Vet care. He had 1 bite on him. Funny, but our Irish Terrier Aoife and he are friends.

I like everything I read about them. I wonder how well they can be trained to spot antifas?

the "experts" on the radio today are broadcasting that America is really really close to
a shooting war. guess who they want to disarm to prevent gun violence?

those ridgebacks sound like Dogs of War to me.

The only Ridgeback I have any experience with is the one I adopted from a rescue shelter. He is about 70 pounds, but i have never seen any dog so strong. He can pull me off my feet. He is great with people, but he is smart enough to know when someone is not supposed to be there. He likes to be petted and I can sit in a lawn chair and he will sit and back up as close as he can get for me to pet him. If they are all like him, then they would be great to have a few around if you lived where dangerous animals might be.

He was quite the buddy, too....Very protective of his friends. He absolutely loved going out on the drift boat.

This is kind of a bitter sweet topic for me. I had to put my long time buddy Hondo down this spring but at least I have my son-in-laws Mikey to keep me company in the shop right now. Mikey is a collie-Australian shepherd mix we think. He's stays pretty close to me most of the time but he is very frightened of gun shots so he stays home if I want to shoot. I want another mountain cur but not sure I want to say good bye to another pup. Here's the last photo I took of Hondo.
