My Dad and I did a bunch of cub scout stuff this weekend. Sorry I didn’t reply to the other post yet. Here is a picture of my only levergun so far. I took this one out with my friend a couple of weeks ago too. It is fun to shoot. I like the large loop – makes me feel like John Wayne!!!
Its just a 22, but I like it a lot. The hand gun is a 38, and we just started shooting this one this year. It is cool to shoot!
When my son was just 2 years old I introduced him to John Wayne movies. By 4 he was saying lines from "True Grit"... I saw that "large loop" Henry .22 H001L at a gun show and couldn't resist.
The revolver is an Uberti and it is 2/3rds the size of a full size SAA clone. I got this specifically with the idea that this would be a great transition from .22 rimfires to centerfires. It is a bunch of fun to shoot, and he can handle it well. He's learned the proper loading technique for sure - "load one, skip the next, load four more, then pull the hammer back and while holding it, squeeze the trigger and let the hammer down gently on an empty chamber". I heard him teaching this to his buddy a couple weeks ago when we took his buddy and his buddy's dad shooting. I was grinning from ear-to-ear!

C2N14... because life is not energetic enough. מנא, מנא, תקל, ופרסין Daniel 5:25-28... Got 7.62?
Not Depressed enough yet? Go read National Geographic, July 1976 Gott und Gewehr mit uns!
I can't remember the name of the movie but John Wayne had a pair of Greener's in one Western. YKK I'm sure your Pa could find you a pair if he looks hard enough!
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.

What do you (or any others out there) think of the little Ruger Bearcat's - they had the re-issued ones at the NRA show, and they seemed solid and just right for a kid (...or maybe the kid's dad )

AJMD429 -
I saw that same display at the Ruger booth (always one of the most impressive booths at the annual NRA shows! ). I really like the old model Ruger Bearcats. So does my son!
IIRC, the Ruger Bearcat's grip is very similar to the old Colt 1849 Pocket Model cap & ball revolver. The gun is similar in size as well. Even though it is small, I can comfortably shoot the Bearcat, and it is wonderful for training young folks!
