Good looking ordnance you have there. Could you display one of those unique cartridges, thus chambered?

Very nice find.
My 1895 .405s are of the Miroku made vintage and make darn good hunting rifles. No collector value though.

My favorite has always been the Model '95. I passed on a .38-72 years ago because I thought the guy wanted too much for it. Should have
bought it!

Great rifle Shrapnel. I always wanted an 1895 in .30-06 but haven't found one to fit my budget yet.

If I ever get around to either making decent money, or selling off some more guns I don't need, an 1895 definitely IS on my list. I don't even care much about clambering.

Beautiful! I've never owned a 95. Almost got one a couple months ago but it fell through.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

Nice find. The condition looks the same as mine in 35 Win. The 1895s are my favorites. Much better balanced to carry than the 1886.

Re: One More For The Stable; 1895 Winchester 38-72
have always wanted a flatside 1895
but I do have a really nice original 405 with the 'African ' express sights, a really nice [ supremely accurate] all intact SRC with the' climbin' lyman receiver sight, an NRA musket in 30/06, and a 'russian' musket in 7.62x54R.
had a beautiful 35 wcf, but sold it last year while reducing the herd.
they all shoot well, but that SRC shoots my load into one hole at 50 yds

Very nice 95 winchester there. I always wanted a carbine in 30/40 almost bought one of the new ones but I don't like the safety on them. Have you got the fixins to load up some ammo for it?
Re: One More For The Stable; 1895 Winchester 38-72
Nice rifle Shrapnel! Have fun working up some handloads for it and good luck hunting.

Lovely find, Shrapnel. The closest I will ever come to a .38-72 is re-reading MLV's discussion in "Shooting Lever Guns of the Old West." He liked it.
