I don't know Griff, but I'm ready to move next to it and start repair operations immediately! Looks like a neat place. Did they mention a general location?

Yucaipa is located north of I-10 between San Bernardino and Beaumont, CA.

If it wasn't in Kalifornia, I'd be right there with you. Someone abandoned that beautiful land and range?!?

That's a plain shame. Makes me wonder what the problem was/is?

One of the guys over on The SASS Wire said he'd shot there once in the '80s. They weren't friendly, and when asked about joining, they told him, "you can't afford it, kid." Sounds like they limited themselves and suffered the consequences. Environmental issues may have reared its ugly head, not to mention the simple increase in property taxes. All can be detrimental to gun range operations.

If those pictures were taken today, there might be one or two that wouldn't have a house or houses in them. Development of that area has increased heavily over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if that property hasn't been sold to developers and perhaps developed itself. Also as stated, the taxes in that area are ferocious.

I matched up the locale on GoogleEarth with the photo in the series, it still looks like it is fairly remote.

I spent the summers of '73, 74 & 75 living in Banning, just 5 miles down the road from Beaumont at that time. My Uncle was a member at Yucaipa and almost every day after work we went to shoot.

Work was laying steel on the bridges for the I-10 and I-15 interchange in San Berdoo, it is/was called the Colton interchange.

Anyways it's too bad that another gun club has bit the dust.
