What's This??! A Forum/Software Question

Post by 20cows »

I 've gotten this message a few times when posting a reply lately.

You cannot make another post so soon after your last; please try again in a short while.
My posts did make it to the thread normally each time though.

Goodness knows I'm not Mr. Zippy on the post contributions. What gives?

You're faster than the software/server, I get it all the time...

There is a "Flood Control" to keep spammers and jerks from filling up the forum with junk. I'm NOT implying that you are either one or the other of the above!!! What I'm saying is that this feature keeps someone from merely copying and pasting new threads and replies in an unreasonable manner... By waiting 45 seconds between posts (I THINK that's the level it's set at) that eliminates some of that type of behavior. Of course, it also affects folks who are legitimately responding to various threads on the forum.

Yep, I sometimes "double tap" the "submit" button (must be a force of habit! ). I'll get this error message then!

I've had it happen to me. If your mouse hiccoughs or you double click it when hitting "post" it will get you that message.

Must be some "variation" to it as it had been several minutes between posts. In spite of the meassage, the post went through.

You're inadvertently hitting the mouse button twice. I have had it happen to me during a bumpy ride in the truck.

Yep. The first one will, the dupe (second mouse click) won't.
