Cabela's prices vary wildly by the individual store buyer/appraiser.

Remember, I got a $1200+ 1886 TD for TRADE because it was being sold at $850...
C2N14... because life is not energetic enough.

Actually, that may not be out of line for that particular rifle. What it really boils down to is the buyer. If a guy has been looking for one in that caliber and configuration for years and all of a sudden one pops up, he is likely to buy it.

That price is a little rich for a 336 RC for my taste.

Its just a straight stock model. I'd just convert a pg model if I really wanted the straight stock - for a whole lot less...

A 16" straight stocked Marlin 336 chambered in 35 Remington in excellent condition? I'd say they are a little high but certainly not out of the ball park. I've haunted a lot of gun shows and have never even seen one of these. I've also seen a lot of 18" and 20" Marlin 336s, but very few (except recent limited runs) 16" carbines. If I had a little extra money to burn - I'd offer $900 for it.

Went across town to small shop, same shotty, better shape,..........$250.
