You come up with some good ones Ole #7..........Funny thing, we've had about every imaginable animal and science says dogs are smarter than cats.....well, either we have the dumbest dogs in the world or the smartest cats the Good Lord has ever known but our cats outsmart the dogs every time around here.....stealing their food, hiding behind doors and swatting them as they pass, getting the warmer spots on the couch.........----6

When someone develops a cat that will jump into a near frozen lake to retrieve a duck- THEN I might consider one but until then they can keep the Chinese food restaurants in business!
My mom once had a white cat that would follow me if I was carrying a gun, I'd shoot a Starling and he would run in and pick it up then disappear, I never trained him to do this, he must have made the connection between my air rifle and free food all by his self...
Whatever you do always give 100%........... unless you are donating blood.
The best example of the difference between cats and dogs is this old joke.
If you die in your house with your dog, three weeks later the dog is found dead at your side.
If you die in your house with your cat, three weeks later the cat has gained weight.

My Mom is 94, lives alone, her best friend and cousin was murdered in her home (http://www.mybaycity.com/scripts/p3_v2/ ... cleID=1638) which has effected everyone's view of life and she has a cat instead of a dog because of my sister. I would sleep better at night if Mom had a dog, preferably a big dog but it isn't my decision.
I work third shift and my wife & I take great comfort in the two 130 lbs GoldenDoodles who think my wife is the most precious thing in the world.
Cats are comforting, dogs are security.
Just my view of things.

That's what I like about them.
My buddy was sitting in his stand the other day. His cat showed up and climbed up in his stand and sat with him.
Oh Lordy! THAT was good. That must have been funny as heck......sitting there and your little buddy comes up the tree...and then sits there with ya. Me and mom got a good laugh out of that.---6
Several years ago the Florida Wildlife Commission sent out a message to all hunters that they should shoot any feral cats they see while out hunting as they were decimating the local songbird population. There was such a public outcry that they had to reverse their statement.

It's easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.
Some folks fail to understand. You don’t own a cat like you do a dog. It’s a more complicated and symbiotic relationship. While man trained canines to do their bidding cats were semi domesticated to do what nature designed them for.
Cats hunt for both fun and food. Sort of like man. They control pests. In return man has brought them into our homes. As long as they are treated well they hang around. If you abuse a cat most will just find another place to stay.

I've trained the last four cats I've had (spanning about 45 years) how to sit and shake - and really shake, not just reach for food. It can be done, with patience.

Now, training kids...
Kids are easy just beat them with a stick. Try that with a cat and they start planning your demise.

I'm guessing the feral cat population still took a dive.
I can't recall hunting a lease where the owner or manager didn't instruct me to shoot any feral cat, or any dog running game animals, that I saw.
Government office attracts the power-mad, yet it's people who just want to be left alone to live life on their own terms who are considered dangerous.
History teaches that it's a small window in which people can fight back before it is too dangerous to fight back.
Since we are on the topic, a related topic is herding cats. If you have not seen this commercial before, with its western theme, sit back and relax and turn up your speakers. This is a real classic! Please enjoy.
