It has never gotten a fraction of the respect it deserves in the United States -- yet it is the parent round of the majority of our useful cartridges today.

I used Remington Core-Lokt out of a .30-'06 seven years ago on 2 gemsbok in Namibia. Perfect performance.
The skinners couldn't find the Norma bullet on this on. I was hoping to examine it.

Re: 131 year old caliber
Years ago, I was stationed in Spain with USAF and applied for a license to hunt red stag. It took some time for the paperwork to go through the Spanish system. Eventually, I received the license and arranged for a guide to hunt these amazing animals. The rifle that I rented was stamped 7.9mm, a worn but beautiful stock and slick action. The scope featured post and cross hair. But ammunition was a name that I did not recognize. On the third day of the hunt, I downed a good stag at approx 175 yards with two shots through the chest organs. Good performance and a great memory!
