Hepburn Sight
Several times I have seen mention of the Hepburn receiver sight on this forum. Can anyone post a picture of one? Were they a popular option? Still available? I'm sure there must be some one here that can provide relief for my ignorance.

This is the best picture I have of mine.
Marlins came D&T on top with two holes for the Hepburn sight I think after 1906 but it might have been a little earlier. They moved the Marlin Saftey roll stamp forward out of the way.
Its a pretty cool sight. You cant see by my crappy picture but its got an aperature that you can flip over to give you a V notch. Its really too close for a notch tho.
Its only adjustable for elevation but easilly adjusted & pretty positive one you get it set. Mine never moved anyway.

This is a link to the reproduction of it sold by Buffalo Arms. Leverdude is right about the date. My 1905 Marlin 1893 doesn't have the holes for it but my 1906 Marlin 1893 does so he's got to be pretty close

"People who object to weapons aren't abolishing violence, they're begging for rule by brute force, when the biggest, strongest animals among men were always automatically 'right.' Guns ended that, and social democracy is a hollow farce without an armed populace to make it work."
