Whoa...whoa...whoa here! The Kubota never entered into the equation.....and besides, who is ANYBODY to give my Kubota away????? I'm just a poor peon former factory worker and Pitchy is a world class engineer and master fabricator.....therefore I (ME) get dibs on Pitchy's masterpiece. Gunny has more toys than he needs so he should stay outta this. It's MINE whether I win page 100 or not!!!!
On serious note, I just came in from cutting the back pasture just to see if there were any more pictures of continual improvements on Pitchy's machine.....well, I was a little thirsty too.
By the way, Pitchy won page TWO on his own post right here on the "Mower Build" so that means I'll allow him to ship me the mower (when complete) overnight express.---6
Thanks harry, i don`t know much about figuring that stuff.
Got the motor mounted great running little engine but i think its going to be a little too fast, thinking i`ll have to go from the four inch sprocket on the jackshaft to a six inch that`s as big as i can get on it.
Pouring down rain with standing water every where so on hold for now.

Fine looking machine Pitchy.... ...the motor completes it.........you will figure out the small expected bugs of which we have full confidence in you mastering.---6
That`s a 26 tooth on the jack shaft and i just ordered a 40 tooth which i think should work, i have lots of throttle left after the clutch kicks in.
Trial and error.

Thanks Jay, looks like it will be a few days.
If the rain quits i may try it again with the trailer behind it.

I calculated using a 9 tooth/40 tooth sprocket, then 9 tooth/30 tooth turning the 8 inch dia. drive roller. 2000 RPM at the motor should give about 2.9 mph which, I think, is about right but only trial runs will prove what little changes are required. Lookin' good Lenn.

Hey that formula link is pretty neat!
Pitchy ya just need to put in a 3 speed transmission with reverse! Looks like you will be working out the bugs very soon- if there is any!
There ya go.....Gunny's thinking......I was thinking put .456 gears in the differential with push button axle locks for traction, like I have in the Jeep. It'll help when your mowing in the morning.---6
Picked up a 36 tooth sprocket today which is six inches in dia. and it`s still to fast, so i ordered a 60 tooth which is 10 inch in dia. and the biggest i can put on it.
I have to raise the rpm enough to engage the clutch and it`s just a little to fast so the 60 may work.
I should of went with belt drive with a tensioner then i could slow the engine down ect. and the speed.
Ya would of got a kick out the try out this morn, i was moving along at a fast clip on the trailer then i pushed the throttle the wrong way and about lost it popping a wheely too.

M. M. Wright wrote: ↑Sun Aug 11, 2019 2:40 pmI ran the numbers Pitchy and if I got it right 2000 RPM should give you just under 3 MPH which sounds about perfect to me. The only sketchy part is how much slippage the roller exhibits under power. It may need some cleats to get enough traction. Whatcha think?
Definitely needs cleats! If for no other reason, than they look cool!

Did Norma get that on video?
Please God! Let this be so.
Tell Norma she can make some serious cash if it's a full video of good quality.
I will be chuckling all day now. Can see my buddy Pitchy going 30mph and grass clippings flying 20 feet in the air.
Oh lordy.
Be careful out there, Lenn! Hope the new sprocket does the trick.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
No video, pulled the heck outta this bad hip so now sitting back listening too the Hag and drinking rum.
I think the 60 tooth will work good, man i`m going to have a fortune in this thing oh well its one of a kind.
I put a top up front that opens and a tool box.

Oh man, sorry about the hip!
You better stay off that thing if you're getting into the rum, old buddy!
Love the toolbox! What a great idea. Yup....one of a kind.
You da man, Lenn.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.
I think its good traction wise, had to move the seat back a little to much tongue weight.
I`ll win in the end.

After some pondering i have enough stuff to go with a double jack shaft that should give me the same results as the 60 tooth.

Hey Pitchy....just hook the Harley side car up to it and use that as a sulky.....the extra weight will slow it down.....then on the side car you can fabricate a wet bar so you can legally drink and drive. Old Win can ride with ya on the side car for conversation.---6
And it all started with a beat up old push mower. Pitchy sometimes you scare me. But in a good way.

If you can't get the gears reduced enough, could you add a reduction gear in there? Sort of looks like a side by side gear. The gear and chain off the motor goes to the gear of the reduction gear, which has another gear attached beside it which is smaller and runs the chain to the final drive gear. It sort of looks as if it steps sideways in the middle. Once it is set it is a decently durable system. It also allows for gear changes within a small range.

Things sure are quiet up there in Minnesota........the mechanical maestro is deep into thinking on the gear setup.......I fully expect to see a video by the end of the day........don't forget the beer holder Pitchy!-----6
Thanks fellers, i`m sticking with the 60 tooth sprocket plan for now but it won`t be here for a few days so on hold.
Can`t go smaller on the primary its a fixed sprocket on the clutch.
Six see the square box i put on the front, that`s for one of those square bottles of Whiskey.

You guys wonder why when other strangers come onboard at Leverguns like it so much...much better than other drab forums. It's because of the camaraderie we have, the fun and games, and of course, wild living legends such as Pitchy.
This Garand Post/reality show is near 100 pages in less than a year.....bet dat wone be fund anywheres else. Oooooooooooo.....can't wait to win the BIG PRIZE on page 100........000000000oooooo. Hint.....either me, Gunny, Tom, Griff will be able to give our tractors/lawn mowers a break. Old Savage don't have to worry about that,....he's rich and pays people to do that kind of work. His hands need to stay soft and supple so he can feel the "soft stuff".
Gunnnnnyyyy.......headed to the gunclub tomorrow for accuracy testing with the LWRC CSASS and the Blackout. Speaking of blackouts, I feel there's going to be a lot of them out after the smoke clears in Philly.----6
They just shipped it today, i think after i contacted them so it won`t be here until next week Bill sorry.

Should have ordered it MICAP
Sorry but i`m stupid and don`t know what that stands for..
I was going to wait until after i posted the video of the mower running but i`ll say now after that happens i`ll be leaving this board for a while.
As the Hag says, i`m tired of it all.

Pitchy...hey pal.....I need to know for sure what your plans are...the producer over at the Garand Post is hearing the rumors about you quitting the show and has threatened to put a stop to future programming....if that's the case, we are out of a job. Gunny will have to sell his dogs, Fordwannabe has to sell his Mustang, Griff will put the Black Rose up for sale, Turtledude has to sell the cabin upstate, Old Savage will have to cut his harem down to 5 girls. I won't have a problem, I got plenty of loot, but the extra money does help with the Sierra Matchkings bullets for the matches and the 93 octane gas for the Jeep.
If it comes down to you actually leaving, can I have your parking spot in front of the office and your locker in the men's room?. -----your pal-----6
P.S...if you leave, I'm shooting the BAR man with black tip 30-06 ammo

Hey Pitchy, maybe MICAP came into use after we left in the mid 70's. I've never heard of it either.
