Winchester 94 Ranger

Post by kmittleman »

Hi yall

I was thinking of picking up one of these in 30 - 30 on Gunbroker.com. Anyone have any experience w/ these. How do they compare to the Marlin's and Rossi's?

Thanks in advance!!

To me it's one of the best looking classic styled Win94s in 30-30 because it has the dovetailed post front sight instead of that god awful front ramp.

Most of the time it'll shoot into an inch at 100yds with Winchester and Reimngton 170gr 30-30.

As far as the Marlins, I've got a 30AW 30-30 that has the classic front post also and most of the time will shoot into an inch at 100yds with Federal 150gr.

With yours, you'll just have to find out which ammo it likes best.

I haven't held a Rossi so no comparison to make.
...and I don't think he even knows it...Walks around with a half-assed grin...If he feels fear, he don't show it. Just rides into hell and back again.

I agree meanc.I like the dovetail front sights of my 94 AE Ranger. The latter Rossi 92 are nice for the price and lighter in weight(in similar 20" model and unlike the 94 AE with rebounding hammer the Rossi 92 has halfcock). The 92 is also available in stainless steel. That being said I own 3 Marlins,2 Rossi's and one Winnie(all fine weapons).A NIB 94 AE Ranger last MSRP retailed around $380 (US).Most sold for less than MSRP new.A very good condition used 94 AE Ranger should be around $250 +/-$50 realistically.I bought a 94 AE Ranger from a pawnshop for $200 out the door.
