Another photo was my grandmother and the same 1894 in the 1970's with the only deer she ever shot with it. You can see just how little she was compared to the gun and the deer, she was all of 4 feet 8 inches tall, the darn carbine is almost as big as she is. I wrote an article back in 2008 for Adirondack Life about her taking this deer.
My grandfather hunted with the Winchester up until 1993 with it, and the last I saw it, there was no finish, the forearm was worn quite a bit, but the gun still worked. My cousin ended up with it, that was 20 plus years back, and I have never seen it since. I did get his Colt Woodsman pistol though, and he loved that gun as much as the Winchester, and I know that Colt went on every trapline.
