Where have I been?

Post by crs »

Nath expressed concern that I had been too quiet of late and asked whazzup? Here is whazzup:

Nath;
Thanks for noticing and for asking. Not sick or anything, just real busy on the farm. It is spring in Texas and there is much to be done before summer arrives and the heat makes it unpleasant to be out all day in the sun.
For the past 5 weekends and some weekdays (I am self employed, so can sneak off when work is slack), I have been busy spraying weeds in yard and pasture, mowing pasture, poisoning fire ants everywhere, directing a crew of workers on landscaping, gardening, putting in drainage grates and underground pipes, painting dog runs, brush clearing, cutting down dead trees, dragging brush to burn pile, etc. !

Sunday was a time to enjoy it though, as it was still and mild and you could hear the bees buzzing in the honeysuckle and flowering privit and prickly ash trees- rarely in a place where the buzz was not audible. This nectar - fest began with the fruit orchard tree blooms, moved to some early flowers, now, and next will be the flowering purple vitex trees that surround and shade the dog runs. All the flying bugs and butterflies seem to love the vitex, which can bloom into the summer when the crape myrtle trees begin to bloom and do so until fall. All the bugs love the ripe fruit too, so we should be hearing bees and seeing butterflies and such until first frost.

Spring and fall are the most pleasant times in this part of Texas and are a great time to be outdoors. Now, it is Monday and I have deliverables and have to get to work here in the office.

PS - It just occurred to me to take some pics of the flowering bushes and trees, new colt, retaining wall and terrace, and such, so I will try to remember to take the camera next time out.

Good to hear from you CRS. I'd noticed you hadn't been around, but then again you kind of cycle in spurts. Anyway, good to see you haven't given us up.

I noticed you were gone but presumed it was to work. I think you've got your priorities right. :wink:
Sincerely,

Hobie
