1894 XTR receiver sight
Manufacture date ~1981. Drilled and tapped for receiver sight.
I would like to acquire a receiver sight like the one on my 1943 vintage 1894 in 32 Win Spl. It is a Redfield, and I have spent an enormous amount of time trying to identify it. There is an "E" on the backside of the elevator gradations so you would not see it when mounted.
The base mtg. holes are 0.4000" apart. The width of the base is ~1.010"
Grid below images are on 0.2" centers.

So, gentlemen, if you please and while we are at it, what inserts are compatible with this sight?
As you can see, mine is missing an insert, but it sure is quick to bring to point w/o one!
thanks

The proper name is the "aperture ". The thread sizes are different from Marbles to Lyman. A Lyman aperture will fit a Redfield........Most of the time.....you can find the exact thread sizes by googling it. My books are downstairs....I'm thinking 10x40-----6

Always liked the looks of the Redfield sight. Right up there with the 56 Lyman.
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

Re: 1894 XTR receiver sight
Welcome aboard the Best Enabler’s Forumn on the web... I am looking at an XTR that was made in ‘79 a friend just happened to show me. I also bought a Marlin lever just for a Redfield sight like that, that was on it.. Now I need to go look at the sight to see which model it is. The XTR has surface rust over most of the metal, won’t know if I can buy it until he finds out if his son wants it. Todd/3leg
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Re: 1894 XTR receiver sight
thanks for posting this Mac. I have been on the fence looking for a nice period correct peep for my pre 64 and could not resist Sixgun's Redfield. We came to an agreeable accord and soon I will have his nice sight mounted on my 1894. I bought it a few years ago, but the rear sight had been ground down for a side mount scope so it has always bothered me.

My Redfield (a different model sight) takes Williams apertures.
