OT P-38

found this yesterday.1969 commerical walther P-38 non import marked.I knew the man that brought it back from germany.(G.I.) he was also selling off some lugers but beyond my pay grade.

Actually, I already have a Black Widow - although mine's only a NAA.

If I tried for the gennie, my wife'd probably make herself a White Widow, though.

...remember them well as we used US rations in SVN. A similar one came with our rats and it incorporated a spoon.

My Dad brought a Walther P38 back from North Africa and for some unknown reason gave it to his brother-in-law back in the '70s. He still has it and thinks it's a Beretta...

... I really want that pistol.

The last P-38 I got was a give a way at a local Army/Navy store.

I used to have my dad's along with his dog tags from WWII. Mom threw them all away. Another sad moment in history.

I still have my last P38/John Wayne on my key ring. Brought it home from RVN in '67. Mine is marked "US Speaker". Funny are the things that you save....

The Black Widow combat aircraft is actually the P-61. Quite a bit bigger than the P-38 Lightning. Was designed as a night fighter. Doesn't have near the same "romantic" history as the Lightning, but was one heck of an aircraft.
