I haven't been there in a few days and have not seen this rifle, but this is the best price I've seen on one of these in a long time. I will go see it today and report what I find, IF it's still there this afternoon.

[later that same day...]

F2582xx was the serial number, which ought to put it around 1975/76 manufacture.

It sold an hour before I got there, same guy bought both the .22 and the .30-30. I did get to see the 9422, and I'd now have to say that the price isn't especially great, but certainly fair considering what they go for. It doesn't have the shiny wood of the XTR; it's not checkered, of course; there are some marks, top of receiver has something that might be dirt or might be rust specks, nothing too bad except for a scratch on top of the reciever/bolt that would bother me. In fact it's why I sold my first 9422XTR, it was mostly excellent but had a scratch on the side of the receiver that bothered me and I wanted a better one. Paid a hair less than what this one was going for.

I was lucky enough to find a 9422M XTR at a gunshow to make the set with my current 9422 XTR, they are probably from the same year and are in similar (excellent) condition. I consider myself pretty durn lucky, having to buy used like this and coming up with that pair.

This store is where I bought my current 9422XTR. I go in there once in a while to look at their revolvers. They're the only place in town that I know of that ever gets any decent older S&Ws and they don't last long when they do. I got a 66-1 there as well, and have used them to transfer guns I bought online or handguns from out of state gun shows.
