Pitchy strikes again!
Pitchy and I were shootin the breeze the other day about this and that. We have a lot of the same interests in "old timey" stuff and what have you.
Somehow I brought up the Foster mfg co. that used to be located in Mattawamkeag Me. They made wood toothpicks and supposedly are the originator.
So offhand, Pitchy asks me if i use em. Sure, I says.
Then we get talking on other stuff, and before we say bye, Pitchy throws in one of his....."I got something I'm gonna send ya" excercises in thoughfulness that humbles me.
So yesterday this comes in the mail. I look it over and say to myself, "what the h3ll is THIS?"
Never seen one in my life. Bout killed me to cry uncle and had to have Pitchy tell me its a TOOTHPICK DISPENSER!
Well, we got a good laugh outta that!
Thank you again, my good friend!
You're the best.

Re: Pitchy strikes again!
Yeah I figgered that would be a nice touch. It had to be something pretty classy to hold court with your latest gift.
Thank you, my friend. My kids are gonna get a kick out of it too! They think I have everything.......well I put up a poor showing compared to you pard!
Supposed to snow here Saturday. 3-5 inches I guess. Hope you get some so you can crank up that boiler!

Re: Pitchy strikes again!
That's awful nice of you Lenn. Very cool dispenser. How does the beak grasp the toothpick?
Re: Pitchy strikes again!
Ole 7,
Truer words never spoke. This is a great place.
Bill,
There are two fine pieces of spring wire at the end of the beak. When it pushes into the toothpicks, they lightly grab one and hold it.

Had one exactly like it setting on the kitchen table on the farm where I grew up. As a tike I thought it was pretty cool...and very practical. Thanks for the reminder.

Re: Pitchy strikes again!
The beak has 2 little sharp pins that stick out of it. They either pass on either side of the toothpick and it wedges in between or they pierce the toothpick and bring it up. My grandmother had one for years.

Re: Pitchy strikes again!
I have seen these before many years ago. I was fascinated by it when I was a kid. It was at my great aunts house which looked like something out of the Victorian age. Formal garden, pond, greenhouse. Inside doily's under everything, cut crystal glass ashtrays with matching holders for wood matches, Persian rugs on the floors, nick knacks everywhere and the old iron beds in the attic where we kids slept when we went to visit. Also an old 40 Pontiac in the garage. it was such a magical place when I was young. She also owned a small corner store a few blocks away which was also a throwback to an earlier age.

When I was a kid I remember being in a house and the guy had this little log house sitting on a table next to his chair that was a ash tray, he would put his cig in it and the smoke would come out the chimneyGaucho Gringo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 09, 2017 4:49 am I have seen these before many years ago. Hey Jack!
Thats the 2nd gen .357 I bought a year or so ago. It's pretty clean. Shoots well.
Gaucho,
Sounds like quite a place! Nothing like mine, haha. The toothpick dispenser is the fanciest thing in it.
