Nickle Steel 38-55 Barrel

Post by Big Bore 94 »

How much more value does this special order add? Octagon, bright bore, clear markings. Letters as a 38-55.

It really depends on who wants the gun. A person planning on shooting the gun with pay more, for obvious reasons. Its not something a collector will pay big bucks extra for. As not many 38-55's or 32-40's were made with nickel steel, it is a big help in selling a gun, so yes, they will bring more, but not a lot.----------Sixgun

I pay a 10% premium for NS barrels, which is more than fair. More .32-40s and .38-55s came with smokeless barrels than a person might think. I have recently bought and traded 2 .32-40 rifles with NS barrels. I am speaking of the 1894 Winchester only, many '93 marlins have Special Smokeless Steel barrels, as do ALL of the large frame original Model 1895s.
