I never had one. I'm a little bit too young.

We used to visit a little old church lady in Eureka MT in '66-'67 that had some in her toy box. I was never ready to leave her place.

Don't remember those at all. As a kid we had an American Flyer set and when my son was little I bought him something similar...still have it....he liked it so much he decided to do it for a living with the Union Pacific.

How old are they Pitchy? Amazing they work so well.----6

I know what that's like, Pitchy. I'm the same way.

One Christmas, when I was about 10 years old, my Dad presented me with an "O" gauge Lionel train set, with a few buildings.

I remember him playing with it waaaay more than I got a chance to........... :(

Batteries, what batteries?.

We used to wind them up with a key, i.e. clockwork and run them on rails.

Cool Pitchy!
I've seen them before but they are before my time.
I had electric HO trains when I was a kid. In the winter, my dad and I would work on them in the attic. We had 4x8 tables, I think three of them.
One day my dad was cleaning the tracks with steel wool and alcohol. I was sitting in the "driver's seat", and he said, "Don't turn on the throttle". Of course, being a kid, you know what happened. Man, that steel wool just exploded into a ball of fire! My dad jumped up shaking his hand and just looked at me with a WTF!? look on his face. :D :D
"Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered another round.

I don't recognize that one. Who manufactured it? I'm a Marx Man, myself also.

Those look like fun. Do they always turn left when they hit something?

I've almost got my 3 kids out of the house. Things are fairly calm. If I started 3 of those in my house, my wife would give me the boot.

The Curious Case of Pitchy, similar to the movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button starring Brad Pitt, but Pitchy is better looking and certainly in the Thomas Edison class of inventors!!!

I kind of came from a railroad family. My grandfather worked for the old Virginian RR before they became the N & W. Railroads were serious business around our house. After my dad came home from WWII he worked in the car Shop in the summers while attending West Virginia U. The closest thing I ever had to a toy train was a Lionel Union Trainmaster engine pulling a load of cars.

Those are nice though.

I remember these from when I was a kid. Too bad Pitchy couldn't get ahold of a DM&IR articulated. Now that would be fun.

Had one that lasted though my childhood. It was in the attic when I went away to school and Dad said he gave it to a kid that didn't have much. Hope it's still being enjoyed.

I remember getting something like that when I was about four. I remember being really frustrated because it would not go in a straight line for long. "A train needs tracks", I remember thinking.
