OT- A Memorial Day plus the Range

Post by GANJIRO »

I had been hosting my siblings and their kids the past week to celebrate the life of, and commemorate the death of our parents. During their stay we scattered my parents ashes in Kailua Bay on their anniversary day (April 15th).

We also in island tradition placed some of their ashes under a newly planted Mango Tree on the land which they loved so much and raised us on so that a part of them would forever be here and nurture the growing tree just as they nurtured us in our growth.

The following day I took my son Isaac, nephew from France Joffrey, and my BIL Mike to the range (I know my dad would have liked that). Joffrey if you recall LOVES anything to do with the old west, he has metal replicas of a Winchester 73, and a Colt Peacemaker. He was dying to finally shoot a "real" Winchester.

Here he is shooting my 94AE loaded with 38 Specials, he must have gone thru close to 100 rounds, he was in Winchester heaven. :D

My son Isaac shooting his 1916 Spanish Mauser (gift from Grampa) with newly installed Williams aperture sight a 100% improvement over the primitive stock rear sight (He's a happy camper now)

Finally, my bro-in-law Mike wanted to try my NEF Handi in 223 and he was pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of the inexpensive rifle.

Everyone has returned to their various homes far away and all is quiet again on the old homestead, I'm sure my parents would have approved. :D

Ganjiro, everyday that goes by will smooth the sharp edges of your parents passing. You're a good and honorable son.

G-Dspeed Pard...this was something that you needed to do. It gets a little easier as time goes by. My parents departed in 83'... 25 yrs. ago this next Sept. Have nothing but warm memories...and that is enough.

Ji,
Those are great pictures. The water is so blue it almost hurts my eyes. It looks like you had a grand send off. I'm sure your folks would have approved. At least you were all together.

Ganjiro,
May the Great Spirit light their path.
I am making the journey tomorrow, Az. to New Mexico.
My Aunt has gone to the Spirit World.
I am what I am today, because that woman NEVER excepted ANY excuses from me!
I will be taking HER Colt Diamondback, back to my uncle and asking him if he wants it back.
It is the least I can do.
