24" Winchester 94
Anyone familiar with this variation? It is an AE no safety made I believe about 1985.

.
About 1985, huh ?
Did you google "Winchester Firearms Manufacturing Dates by Serial Number" pdf to drill down the exact DOM ?
No (lawyer) safety M-94AE's were made from 1982 to the introduction of the CBS (crossbolt safety) in 1992, IIRC.
The 24" barreled 7-30 Waters was introduced in 1985.
AFAIK, the 24" barreled pistol-grip buttstocked Legacy was introduced well after that, in 1997.
However, the standard Model 94 was available with a 24" barrel in .30-30 & maybe .32 Special also, in 1987-88.
What's the chambering & DOM, Fred - and does it have a straight or PG buttstock ?

Re: 24" Winchester 94
Is it a "classic"
When you find out let us know, because a 24" carbine would definitely go on my "I want" list. I'm assuming that it is a 30-30.

IIRC, the Winchester Model 94 Classic(s) were top-eject guns.

Ah, left out that it is a 30-30 with a straight plain stock.

IMO, Fred, that should make it a 1987-88 Standard Model 94, with the 24" bbl that was optional during those years..

Re: 24" Winchester 94
Can't help as my collection of Winchester catalogs skip from 1894 to 1967/8 and begin again in 2001 when they started having them available to download. The 1894 is a reprint from Cornell Publications. Catalogs from Winchester are available from almost any year...Pete44ru wrote:.
