Remembering Mike D.
Mike would have been seventy years old today, he was taken far too early.

Re: Remembering Mike D.
Living to near seventy is not really that bad. I'm 62 and thank our soldiers who died at 20 everyday so I could live this long and enjoy life to the fullest.
The way I see it, if you have not done whatever you ever wanted to do up to about 55-60, you lived your life wrong. Every day after that is a bonus.-----6

Mike was truly a "Gentleman and a Scholar". I really miss his contributions to our forum.

Mike is sorely missed.gamekeeper wrote:Mike would have been seventy years old today, he was taken far too early.
Being 65, I consider 70 far too young to leave this life. There is always something new to do, and learn.

Gotta agree with that. My Dad sailed from Lake Erie all the way down to Trinidad and back. He left Ohio at 64 and sailed to Caribbean until 70. He still goes to a range in FL at least once a week and is always showing up the younger guys with what he can do w/ a 1911.BlaineG wrote:Mike is sorely missed.gamekeeper wrote:Mike would have been seventy years old today, he was taken far too early.

Mike was a super guy. When I bought my first 1886 he emailed me for an address so he could send me a box of .338 flat points to get me started. Sixgun was nice to help out with forming brass for me too.

The loss of his knowledge is a sad thing, but the loss of a good man such as he was is a very sad thing. Good men are far too few in our current world.

Re: Remembering Mike D.
Last weekend I was looking for some information using the search function in this website and re-read several posts that Mike had contributed. I was reminded that he had some really nice rifles and a LOT of knowledge about the old Winchesters and the ammo that was used in them. He is missed.

Re: Remembering Mike D.
I don't get on the site much and hadn't realized he had passed. Back in 2008 he helped me with info on my rebarreled 33 '86. I'm forever greatful he definitely helped me and was a wealth of knowledge on the older Winchesters and there cartridges. I'll definitely never forget that and like John Wayne said in the Cowboys it's how your rembered that counts in the end.
