"Hello, my name is Old No7, and I am addicted to old top-break revolvers with long barrels..."
With that disclaimer out of the way, and the knowledge that I could be addicted to much worse, here's the newest addition to my expanding top-break collection.
This is a Smith & Wesson "38 Double Action, 4th Model" with a 5" barrel and 5-shot cylinder. I know I've told this forum before, my first ever handgun that I bought on my own was a top-break H&R 999 Sportsman. Ever since, I've been addicted to long-barreled top-breaks as they are much cheaper to collect (though harder to find in decent condition) than old Colts or Winchesters.
This one is in really good shape overall, and it functions just fine. I need to load up some ammo once I order some .361" or .362" lead bullets (need to slug the bore), but you'll see that AZoom makes snap caps for the old 38 S&W round (not a "38 Special", notice the rim).
And just for fun, here's a view of how it compares in size to a S&W Number 3, 2nd Model "Schofield" (which is in 38 Special, as made by Uberti):
What's next??? Who knows, but it has to have a 5" or 6" barrel and a hinge!
...Says the one who may be "unhinged"...
Tight groups.

Love it, she`s a beauty, I have a Iver nine shot 22 with a long barrel but it`s missing the whole trigger assembly.
I`ve wanted to get it running for years but haven`t got er done yet.

Very nice. Those little Smiths are surprisingly good shooters. At least the ones I've had.

Slug the chamber throat. Often times it is larger than bore size. You want chamber throat diameter bullets to hit the forcing cone for your best chance at accuracy. Good Luck
BTW You got some very nice toys there!!

You sure do come up with some fine old top breaks. That one looks like it was loaded and put in a drawer and left there, really nice. I have three but nothing like yours.

You know, as far as addictions go, this one is very cool!
BTW, for quiet indoor practice, they now have a reproduction of the Schofield in BB gun form!
