Bought a couple Gamo air rifles recently, a Bone collector and a raptor in .177 cal.
They seem to shoot pretty good seeing I can`t hold very steady anymore.
Targets are at 20 yards.
The BC is a gas chamber and the Raptor is a spring gun.

Hey Pitch-man. Glad to see you posting from somewhere other than 6feet under!
I don' know Gamo from Daisy, but if the Calph of Baghdad started making actual Modern Giriondis I'd buy 3.
The US better buck up on this one or lose it to Hatsan...

So, how do you like them so far?
I picked up a benji titan a while ago. I got one of the bum ones... Had to put together a spring compressor and replace the seal (the piston was slamming too).
Hmmm... sunny, clear, just a whisper of air... Sorry, gotta go!

Just walked out the door and pasted the sixth red squirrel with the BC.
I`m happy with both of them but like the BC better, bought it at Walmart but only have around 500 pellets through it.
So far so good but they're scopes are junk, replaced the one on the BC .

This is what I got, it seems to be holding up well.

Pretty nice groups. What is the advertised FPS from those? I've had a couple RWS's for decades, darned accurate, but not as fast (powerful) as some of the spring air models made today.

Thanks, they brag up the BC at 1,300 fps but that`s with their light pellet, dern thing sounds just like a 22.
I`m guessing the norm is around 800 to 900 fps.
I`m having good success with these and they're cheap. http://www.ebay.com/itm/GAMO-AirGun-Hal ... SwjXRXb7Ry

I got a used RWS MOD 45 years ago, guys kid tried to cock it, couldn't quite get it there and let go! That put enough bend in the barrel that you could see it bending upward. Sucker still shot tiny little groups tho! While I was in gummsmiff skool, I mentioned it to an instructor, he said bring it in and I'll show you how to straighten it.
Next day I took it apart in class and he proceeded to whack a bar of Babbitt a couple three times. Stuck it between centers on a lathe , that sucker is back to within about .005" muzzle to breech! Still a good shooter!
Gotta watch what kind of scope, air guns recoil FORWARD, same with some semi auto 22's(10/22) that will eat scopes !!

Yep hard to believe but they are hard to keep a scope in place or falling apsrt.
Cool story about the barrel.

Thanks Bill, yep they're a whole different animal.

Pitchy, I've used similar types of pellets on birds and gophers (head shots). They work pretty darned well. The older rounded or flat heads just don't seem to penetrate as well. I can't say I'm capable of telling if there is an accuracy difference between the types.

Some say heavy pellets are real accurate, around ten grains but I haven` tried any.

I shot a Gamo rated at 1250fps, with the light alloy pellets it cracked like 22, with 8gr. pellets it's was fairly quiet.
30/30 Winchester: Not accurate enough fer varmints, barely adequate for small deer; BUT In a 10" to 14" barrelled pistol; is good for moose/elk to 200 yards; ground squirrels to 300 metres

Very cool! Cheap practice too, as others have said.
I've always found "springers" (and maybe the gas one too?) to be "very sensitive" to hold -- where you hold/rest the forearm, as well as how tightly you hold it. It might be well worth a dozen or so pellets in each position, trying out a few to see which "hold" each gun likes. And they both could be different too.
Thanks guys, I`m new to these type rifles ,the first thing I noticed was how sensitive to hold they are.
I find on a rest that just barely holding the darn thing is the best.
Shooting off hand doesn`t matter because I`m moving all over the place anyway.

It'll take 1-3 tins of pellets until they are really smoothed out and get rid of lot of the vibration . I miss having them but not enough to buy one yet.
