Pistol Caliber is half size targets at 40, 50, 75, and 100 meters.
Rifle Caliber is full size targets at 50, 100, 150, and 200 meters.
I would bet Black Powder is same as rifle caliber, with people using black powder in their 38-55's and 45-70's. But that's just a guess.
That's the way I shot it last Sunday.

We are trying to get started with both the CB and the BPCR, and .....well you know what it's like working with a committee!

Grizzly Adams: my local club, Upper Nisqually Sportsmans Club (Eatonville WA), has a BPCR silhouette match 10X a year. www.uppernisquallysportsmanclub.com/
It is a rather "recent" program @ the club. I think the 1st match was approx. 3 years ago.
Steve & Beth Morris run the matches, got the program rolling, & convinced the club to build a silhouette line & expand it early this year.
I'd drop them an e-mail for any information, advice, ideas, etc. Tell them I referred you.
You also might want to post this over on the Shiloh Sharps board & the BPCR.net as there are number of silhouette shooters there who ave developed silhouette shooting programs.
Question: I will be starting Cowboy Lever Action silhouette, and 2 clubs within 2 hours drive have smallbore and pistol caliber matches. Would full-bore .25-20, .32-20 or .357 Magnum loads be likely to damage their targets? Are there any velocity limits or projectile requirements (such as soft point, cast lead/gascheck), etc?
I'm thinking a .25-20 with 75 gr. Speers or 86 gr. Remingtons should shoot pretty flat and still take down the rams, but haven't yet gotten to try. Am sure the .357 would do it, but just would prefer to use an original 92 if possible.

Some clubs have a max velocity of 1400fps for Pistol/Cowboy calibers.
All want soft lead, or at least SJSPs.
All I know is that I broke at least 3 25yd chickens (break the weld) with a soft lead 158 at just about 1400fps...
OTOH, they didn't get mad at me, so I guess it wasn't my load that did it. Who knows.

The 32-20, 25-20 and .357 are all legal and highly effective. You DONT need to worry about knocking down the rams with a highpowered max load of some kind, load for ACCURACY, if you cant hit 'em you cant knock 'em down. Any reasonable load for any of these cartridges will do the trick. Some clubs may require lead loads, best to call first.
Yep I agree, I've shot a lot of matches with my Winchester 1892 in .25-20. In my humble opinion it is just about the perfect pistol cartridge silhouette cartridge. Never seen a Ram yet that was hit anywhere that did not go down with the .25-20. Couple of local guys use .22 Magnum and it does the job well too. Heck even .22LR takes them down about 1/2 the time but kinda need high hits to do it.
