The Boy and I set out the homemade hog trap a while back and hadn't had much luck. We started with it near the creek and somethig was BIG enough to hit the trip wire one foot off the ground and SMALL enough to go through the 4x4 openings in the cage (I vote for a skunk).
Last Saturday we moved it out to the middle of an open grass pasture and spread a trail of bait to the nearest game trail. I have seen hogs cross the place near here.
Every day the trap sat unmolested until today.
I figure they are in the 50 pound range.
They were laying down in the cage like puppy dogs until I walked within about ten feet and then one tried to rush me through the wire. They are aggressive little dudes.
We had church choir practice tonight (I'm the director), so we water soaked some dog food and pitched it in the trap with them for tonight. I figure they'll keep.
Too bad you couldn't pen them up and corn feed em for a month or so.
Could just about smoke one of them whole.

The little ones can be the best eaters unless you want bacon.

wire to hold it together.180 lbs. of charcoal and a pile of oak,
10 hours of slow turning I fed a party of 60.
