OT - need the name of a firearm
For the life of me, I can not remember the name of this handgun. It is round in shape, with the barrel coming out of the circumference of the handle/frame/mechanism. It was a little pocket pistol around the turn of the 19th-20th century. Fired by squeezing the lever opposite the barrel. .22 caliber I think.

BINGO!
That is exactly the one I had in mind.
Wasn't "lemon squeezer" also a term used to describe the grip safety on the S&W and imitation small-frame revolvers around the turn of the century?
Boy wonder wants one of these. I will need to add it to my list; try to find one reasonably priced...
Thanks Tom!!!
P.S. - I can't make out the writing on it. Do you know who made these?

I do believe they are on the "Uh-uh" list now, unless by some miracle they made it to the Curio and Relic list.Ysabel Kid wrote:BINGO!

I've never heard them referred to as "Lemon squeezers" but the old grip safetied S $ W revolvers were so designated. Of course, there's LOTS of things I've never heard...

Don, I may be wrong but I think this S&W safety hammerless was the first Lemon Squeezer. The bar on the backstrap is the grip safety.don Tomás wrote:Jay,
You mean the one they called the "Lemon Squeezer"?

Yep. We were watching this on TV a month or so ago, and my son yells out "Dad! I want one of those!!!" when he saw it.Jaguarundi wrote:Ysabel Kid remember the scene in the movie "Marked for Death" the lead character played by Segal cleans & oils one up in his gun collection.

I stand corrected. When I saw the description on the GunBroker one, it appeared it needed to go to an FFL if going to California. Granted, I didn't read that part too closely - doesn't apply to me!lever-4-life wrote:We can still buy handguns made before 1898 without paperwork, for now...Actually, since they were made before 1898, they are on the antique list, and don't require any license to purchase (except for those poor souls in the Republik of Kalifornia).

Thanks for the heads up, Steve. I have a 1956 vintage S&W Mod. 40 that my Father-in-law passed down to me. Never knew that it was also called a "lemon squeezer". Kinda cool. Thanks!Nate Kiowa Jones wrote: Don, I may be wrong but I think this S&W safety hammerless was the first Lemon Squeezer. The bar on the backstrap is the grip safety.
