Post by Rusty »

Where ya gona be this weekend? I was headed out of JAX last night at about 10:45 and got my doors blown off by a Carroll Fulmer rig. I never got to see the tractor, but I think it was a white KW. I was busy gettin situated at t he time. It made me think of you. We have a big gun show in Lakeland this weekend. If you're gonna be in Whorlando again this weekend we can get you a ride.

I left JAX on Monday morning with a stopoff in Paducah, KY and 5 more around the St. Louis area.

I might, or might not be in Joplin this weekend. I have a '97 KW T-600 (Anteater) that's getting rebuilt with a new Black Cherry paint job... I just might be getting out of this 5.2mpg Peterbilt & into that 7 to 7-½mpg KW in a few weeks. If everything goes according to plan (yea, RIGHT), I'll be on the way to the house to await the T-600 and have some play money in the pocket... well, maybe not, the bill for rebuilding that old truck hasn't been paid!

New Truck, before rebuild and paint:

The "New" truck has 1.4 million miles on it, with the original turbo, air compressor and most everything else. It's had one brake reline, 2 clutches, and @ just under a million I upgraded the trans and rebuilt the 3rd member.

(That's Miss Poco Flit Bar, a granddaughter of Poco Bueno there with my fat self on her back. She was one of my Posse and mounted shooting horses until 3 years ago when I retired her. She's 23 years old! That shot was taken about 5 years ago for an article in a trucking magazine.

7 1/2 HA! my company ain't got a lick of brains. Would you believe I'm driving a single axle day cab that only gets 6.25 and that's on a good run. I was driving a GMC 9500 in 1980 that got 6.5.

All they can think of to do is to cut our speed back cause fuel is so high.

The Pete has a 500 Detroit and the KW has a little 425 Cummins.

Actually, I do... but they ain't on this 'puter! When the KW is done, I'll post some more. I should be there in Joplin tomorrow and I'll take some as it gets rebuilt and painted. I didn't get there when they had the engine tore down, that part's done.

I had to ask. Once upon a time I was a diesel mechanic for Cummins in Tulsa. B6's C8's L10's M11's & N14's. I got tired of it and went back to college...
