why our country is as it is

Post by JNG »

My son is in the Navy. I made a post a bit ago about him in helping the folks with a hurricane .
Well today at a Krogers store, while in line, I had a hat that had HSM Weapons School Atlantic.
My sons command. A lady behind me ask me, DOES THE NAVY TEACH PEOPLE TO SHOOT AT OTHERS.
I did not know quite to say..SO I SAID NO..IT IS ONLY WITH PAINT BALLS. This is a no sh.. wish it was.

Lord help us.

Navy chiefs taught me that as a American fighting man, I'd be asked to take lives in defense of national security, to prevent the theft of nuclear materials, in defense of personnel on my a watch and on the orders of a superior officer. All in defense of the Constitution of the United States against enemies foreign or domestic. They emphasized that it was not a responsibility or decision to take lightly and and just making the choice would change me from that point on.

I'd tell anyone stupid enough to ask in that manner that my training was to use deadly force in the situations outlined above and they should thank God for those willing to take that responsibility.

The response that first comes to mind is: "Only at criminally ignorant a$$wipes like you".

What do you suppose the purpose of the military might be, inside her shriveled, TV wracked "mind"?

My wife is nice, and she is right. Putting more troops on Guam may cause it to tip over WINS.

I think the OP's reply was hilarious and appropriate. Best part of it is the goofy woman probably took it for gospel.

The correct answer is, "...yes, of course they do... so that you can have the freedom to stand here and ask such stupid questions." What Walker said. When my son said he wanted to do like I, and try out for the SEALS, I told him not to... he'd be asked to do things that he might not want to live with afterwards. I never had a problem... but then I'm borderline asocial... When I originally joined the SO in CA, they asked if I thought I could take a human life. I gave the pat answer, "...yes as I know I have, but in a non-warzone, I'm not sure, never having faced that situation." Apparently, it wasn't a wrong answer. When I joined the SO in TX, I found myself having to go to a Psychologist for a State mandated pre-hire evaluation. We talked about life in general, and then she asked me if I thought I was mentally stable enough to carry a gun and a badge. I answered truthfully, "...I believe that anyone who's been a cop for more than 7 years isn't mentally stable enough... but habits die hard." She looked at me, and said... "... you sound like you're well grounded in reality." And passed me! Shock of my life! I took her comment to be a compliment... please don't tell me otherwise!

Oh yeah, if you go back and edit your original post, you can fix that also. Yeah, fat-fingeredness affect almost all of us!

JNG, you're much nicer than I. I would likely have said, politely, "No, they teach them to kill people that threaten us".

Thank your son. People like that "woman" are too stupid to be allowed to enjoy the freedom others work hard to provide for everyone...

I never argue with a stupid person. It`s always a no win situation. My dad had a expression I heard him say a few times. "Don't insult my intelligence."
