I would also like to try a .45-70 revolver. Probably not loaded up to the gills, but I think that a heavy cast bullet (522gr) at moderate velocity (800fps or so) would be a blast.

Scott, we've been shooting Grizz's load of 525s at 'bout 1350 and it is not painful whatsoever......Garrett's 420 +P (which are about 1850 out of the CB pictured) are not particularly much for say 10 shots.....It's so heavy, that most loads are not as painful as a fullhouse 44 mag in a SBH...

Here is a 500 Linebaugh by Jack Huntington and reviewed by John Taffin that is the biggest I have fired, not loaded heavy. Bluing is by Turnbull. Not mine but a very nice piece.

Blaine, sometime you got to post a video of you shooting that 45-70 pistol.

I remember firing a 12-gauge pump shotgun a friend had cut down to minimum legal length, with a 'handgun' shaped grip right on the tang area. With a SLUG it really didn't recoil that much because of the weight. If you held it at the waist like it was tempting (one hand on forend and one on rear) it was nasty, but if you held it out like a really big handgun in a 'Weaver' stance, it was really not bad at all.
