Prayer Request

Post by Griff »

My Mom just went into emergency surgery. I'm trying to get to Port Angeles before the last ferry tonite. At least I wasn't half way across the country, I was in Kent, WA... & was able to ditch my trailer. Sister is with her, so Mom really needs all the help possible.

Thank y'all for the prayers. Able to visit as she came out of the anesthetic... what fun that was... but it was so wonderful to speak to and be spoken to! Still has several more days of recovery... and still some before she's out of the woods.

Thanks again for the prayers. I just got back from Victoria, BC... It's a ferry ride there and back... but... since it's Canada, I couldn't drive my truck over there... for reasons that need not be gotten into here... And, since Port Angeles, WA doesn't have a truck stop, I had to find a place to park my trailer... and bunch of fine folks at the Utility Trailer repair facility in Auburn, WA were kind enough to let me park it there, but I still had to drive my tractor out to Port Angeles. There's an unattended lot for parking for cars and RVs near the ferry terminal. Pay by the day... $9 for RVs. Since my tractor is kinda the size of an RV, I just put $20 in one of their envelopes and a note explaining the situation, and that I didn't know how long I'd be staying. Yesterday morning I came back over on the ferry and put in another envelope with another $10 in the drop box. When I got back, I had two envelopes taped to my driver's window. The one I dropped off yesterday with my $10 still in it, and another with this note on the back:
Image

I gotta tell ya, this probably choked me up more'n anything else has recently. Regardless of the news and what you seem to hear or see, there are still exceedingly good, kind folks in this here land of ours.

Mom's still in the ICU, they're making sure that her meds are all balanced and that she won't have further problems once she's in a recovery ward. When we visited this morning, she was awake, and talking to the nurse about places to shop for tea cups and saucers (a hobby of her's and my sister's)... The nurse explained that she'd asked about my Mom's accent... she still has a bit of Kiwi, but now overlaid with a bit of a southern drawl... and she told us how she asked Mom about Rugby... and still had a smile for Mom's answer that there isn't another team except the "All Blacks"!

Mom's looking forward to a trip home next Feb with my sister and brother-in-law, sis's first visit home since 1958 and my B-I-L's first ever. And our trip in five years for my cousin's 75th Birthday! I'm so blessed. Again, thank y'all for your support and prayers. For those that can, give your Dad's a hug... but save another for your Mom!!!

Yep, the hospital moved her to a regular room today... and might let her go home on Friday. She's scheduled to come out to TX the 1st week in Aug to visit me, and then on to TN to visit a cousin. Her, sis & B-I-L are planning a trip to NZ this winter (ours, not theirs), and in 2019, Mom, wife, son & I are going again for another family reunion. Smaller than the one in 2000, which had over 1,500 attendees!

Thank y'all again for all your prayers.
