fiber sight for guide gun
Has someone put a fiber optic front sight on their guide gun? What part number directly replaces the stock brass bead?
I put green ones on my Ranger Compact and Redhawk. I'd like to put one on the GS if I can find the make and model fits. The sales guy at midway didn't have any info.
Thanks Levergunners

Grizz, let me get home and I'll check the package if I still have it. It's a HighViz that I've had on from the first and reallly like it....If not, measure the one you have from the bottom of the dovetail to the top of it and then look at the HiViz site for the part number.Grizz wrote:Has someone put a fiber optic front sight on their guide gun? I put a Williams Fire Sight (red) on mine, I really like it, not sure of part number but I got it from Brownells and as BlaineG says you measure from the bottom of the dovetail to the top, they come in different widths.

I put one on my guide gun about 2 years ago, absolutely love it. I used the Hiviz Rifle and Inline kit, part # DOVM .315", this fits standard 3/8 dovetails. It comes with 3 green and 3 red inserts. It's a smidge wide on the base but not overly so. They also make them in .380", .420", and .500".

As you can see I liked it so much I put one on the shotgun and the Winchester 9422M! My preference is the green, sticks out like a sore...... you know. Thanks, Tom
This is the correct green Hi-Viz. It comes with 6 interchangeable light pipes, incase you break one or want to change to a thinner/thicker sighting bead - they slide in/out after holding a lock lever down.

This is the lowest Marble's. It's a scoch taller than the Hi-Viz, and no extra pipes.

This is the Williams FireSight - They are available only in red, because, IIRC, the FireSight rears are green.

Thanks very much for the links Pete. I'm looking forward to getting some trigger time with the new sights. The one on the carbine is a lot better than what I was trying to see; the invisible stealth front sight is gone now.
I'm going to get the firesight you have Pete. That way I'll have a different color to try out and it seems to be the closest in height to the stock bead.
Best,
Grizz

I'll tell ya - If they could only come up with one of those reflex red dot sights, about the diameter/size of a dime, instead of a silver dollar, I think, with protective wings, it would be the "better mouse trap" - a virtual scope the size of a peep sight, with no need for any front sights, etc, either.
I think those dot sights are neat but take some getting used to. I've only ever shot TTT's and I have to swing the thing around to find the dot. Probably just a me thing and something you could train to use properly.Pete44ru wrote:I'll tell ya - If they could only come up with one of those reflex red dot sights, about the diameter/size of a dime, instead of a silver dollar, I think, with protective wings, it would be the "better mouse trap" - a virtual scope the size of a peep sight, with no need for any front sights, etc, either.
I keep thinking about a lens to fit in the peep, sharpen the front sight and use binocular vision to overlay it on the target. That's how I've always shot, the lens would just assist my dominant eye to not see so many front sights... has anyone done this?
very funny...
I keep thinking the natural place for a laser sight is the magazine cap. Wouldn't even notice it much. I mean I don't spend a lot of time in front of the business end.
At least almost everything would be traditional, but with a little flick of a switch, shizzzZZAAMMM, green dot at a hundred. you could keep both eyes closed... ;)

I ordered the red williams front like you have on your guide gun, thanks for the link...
