Levergun and "other rifle" porn, 2015 -- PHOTOS of course!
I warned you I'd start a 2015 "porn" thread if no one else did!
I've done a little shooting this winter, but when the temperature is single digits to mid-twenties it's pretty cold after a while especially on old finger that don't like being cold anymore. Most shooting I can get in this time of year is maybe a couple of hours at a time if the sun is out. Can't what for warmer weather shooting! This is going to be a big target shooting summer. I have at least 2 six packs riding on "best targets" and I expect there will be more!
OK, just like reading Playboy let's get to "the good stuff!"
L-R IIRC: Winchester 9422 Legacy; Sako .308; Winchester Model 94 SRC (1928 restored); Sako Finnwolf (sold); Winchester Model 64 (sold); Winchester Model 71 (for sale); Browning Model 53 custom .218 Bee w/ 30" octagon barrel (sold); circa 1908 Winchester 1894 Octagon (sold):
So, post your pics and help fellow Levergunners stay sane and get to this summer's shooting season!
(You guys who already are shooting in sunny, warm temperatures help us northern guys out with your Levergun and "other rifle" porn stimulation, too!)

OMG! This is the best leverporn post in a long time!!!
Re: Levergun and "other rifle" porn, 2015 -- PHOTOS of cours
Wow, this is great. It's hard to beat those old levers. That .356 is the only one of the big bores I didn't get. A guy had one on a table at a gun show about 4 yrs ago with the box for $400, but it had a scratch on the magazine tube and I didn't buy it. I think I should have!!!

I like to rack them up,this was a post i did last year on antoher site,no levers on it.But i got others to post too.
I just can not stop buying parts and building these Mossberg 500s. There cheap to build if you buy parts in bulk and i have never needed to fit a part. They go together and work fine with no tools at all. 1 screwdriver is about it. I had to make a rack to hold them. They pile up like beer cans at a party.

Times have been tough around here. Only thing I have left is this 410 bolt action shotgun that's held together by masking tape. Please....pray to the Winchester, Colt, Marlin, S&W, and early Ruger Gods so that I may have eternal peace...Obama came in and took my fortune...... ----6

THIS is one of the most beautiful firearms I currently own, and is a classic levergun....
It is also the only Winchester levergun I own...!
This was taken at a 'family reunion' a few years ago, where those of us (most of us) who shoot brought our shootin' irons; as you can see, we're a "Marlin Family"...

Re: Levergun and "other rifle" porn, 2015 -- PHOTOS of cours
The ATF just gave them back.
Calvary Colt, and a pre war 38 Colt Spl., and a flat top Bisley
Couple of nib single action Colts the factory made for me. 38-40 and a 45. Funny thing,
Since 1873 no one thought of using the serial number "Sixgun.
Just some junky old Colts.
Just some low condition 73, made in '91
Some stupid looking old flat top Rugers in all of the barrel lengths along
With some pre-war large frame double action Colts and Smiths, most in 44 spl.
Might even be some pre war Colt single actions in there somewhere.
There's another safe full of ww2 stuff like cheap garand National Matches, and a mess of pre-98 single shots but it's time to go to bed. Oh! Ya like Lugers? Here's a goofy looking one with some kind of a "snail drum" and some thing called a loading tool. It has a cheap looking stock with some off the wall holster.

Ya' need to send that old 86 in there to me so you got some more room for them purty sixguns. I'll make room for it!! What caliber might it be?? Come to think of it, you might as well send that 73 too, the shipping will be cheaper that way.

Daisyman,
The 86 is an extra lightweight in 45-90 and as a Winchester man.....by your pics...NICE 66 bro......you probably know that extra lightweights were only made in 33 and 45-70. There was a handful made in 45-90, 40-65 and I hear 50-110...never did see one though. Funny thing, I managed to snag another extra lightweight in 45-90 a few years ago.......my bud got it on trade and he calls me up..."you want another 86?......come on down and get it"......but this one has a full mag and is takedown....used it for elk season last year but did not connect with anything but cold weather.
Who needs Hank Williams Jr. when you have Targetmaster, Chadds Ford, Pa. ---6
The only way they come better than this is to jump in a time machine and cruise on down to Hartford, Ct. In 1917.
Nice old Colt...Henry Nettleton inspected from '79....1879...yea...I shot it...not much...but I needed to experience it.
I shot a 32x40 with this 93 Marlin takedown in 38-55

Sixgun , what kind of pegs are you using to hold your sixguns to the inside of your safe door. I have a space issue in my safe and was looking for a way to use that space more wisely. Thanks
If you need to do some spring cleaning and get rid of some of those old relics. Just let me know I can come help clean your basement.

This thread is disruptive to my productivity. Even this last picture ... once you get past the shabby case coloring, you notice the takedown ring and the windage stem in the Lyman tang sight. What ... no special base Marbles in the drawer for this rifle? These steel and walnut fetishists need to tone it down or I'll get zero done.

Ben T,
I had this safe custom built to my specs back about 20 years ago. There's no sheet metal in this baby.(yea, that's my cat, "Twinkles" sitting on top)
I told the guy (safe company in California...can't remember the name.) that I wanted a lot of pegs for handguns. This is what he did.......it's all rubber coated.
I soon ran out of space and lacking these thing a ma jigs, on the back wall of the safe. I installed a large piece of 1/4" plexiglass. From there I drilled and tapped holes in it so I can just screw headless stock and then put a piece of rubber hose over it. Works great as you can "custom drill" where you want the holes depending on the sixgun you are hanging.-----6
Howdy there McNutjob....it's been a while.! Thanks bro for the detailed observation. Yes, wood and steel....to me there is no other.....other than a couple of black guns for the impending social chaos.----6
Note the plexiglass about a foot down from the top? You can see where I put the 1/4" threaded stock and then put air hose on top of it.

I now feel very inadequate, and my life has been a total waste - at least when it comes to leverguns.
Re: Levergun and "other rifle" porn, 2015 -- PHOTOS of cours
Sixgun,
Wow, that is one fine safe full of goodies!! That '86 would be a fine companion for mine. It's a .33 takedown with a full magazine and shotgun butt made in 1905. The pics aren't very good for it.
I bought the '66 back in the early eighties during the farm crisis. A farmer was trying to raise cash enough to stay afloat and was selling his guns. He'd had it for over 20 years. Its a fourth model carbine.
By the way, where do you find bud's that call you up with an 86??? I'd like to know that feller...

Daisy man,
That's a FINE looking 86.....and......the 66......I remember back in the seventies, 66's still could be had ......expensive...but could be had. As you know, they are about extinct now.
Shucks, 86's in fine condition could be had for $500.......but....that was about 5 weeks pay.
Most of my guns have come from private estate sales where these guns are still coming out of the woodwork here in southeast Pa. My bud, who owns Targetmaster has been a big help too. I'm at the point where I turn things down as "I'm there" and anything else is just added aggravation.----6

It was Mr. Soellner at Old West Leather Goods. He made the knife (Sambar Stag grip and solingen steel blade) and the sheath. I am very pleased with both, and have used the knife to skin and clean deer and fillet fish.rafter-7 wrote:Hey kirk.. whos the maker on the toad sticker?? they did a great job on the sheath!! the rest of the knife must be of quality

Re: Levergun and "other rifle" porn, 2015 -- PHOTOS of cours
i CAN NOT EVEN BEGIN TO THINK OF SHOOTING THAT FAR AROUND THESE HILLS WERE I LIVE.
Those are some outstanding rifles and revolvers,i see we all ile to line them up or pare them up in nice rows.
I can only afford copy and clones, but thats better then not having the excitement of shooting and handling them.
SIX your a happy looking guy there. Love your man cave.IF we were closer i would come over and help clean them guns .

Here's a rare one:
Winchester 1886 deluxe, 45-70 with a 2" longer than standard 28" barrel in extra heavy configuration. 1888 vintage.

Here's a few of the left over Marlin's at this weekend show that we displayed, normally Winchester's, but this is what came out this time.
Also a few others.
1895 45/70 first year deluxe.
1881 45/70 standard mint bore.
39 Marlin deluxe.
1894 32/20 28"
1893 38/55 Eastern carbine.
1894 44/40 15" trapper on table.
This is the gun that is pictured at the beginning of chapter 37 of the book of Ballard Rifles. It is the "J.P. Lower Special order"
Here's a few others.

I was there with my modern useful stuff.
Haven't had time for the Winchester and Sharp's pic's though.
Byron
PS sold my second model 1890 short today and bought a 660 .308 that looked unfired for $400.
Life is good.
PS II that pic doesn't do the 95 justice.
