I also want to thank the forum member from whom I originally bought the receiver, barrel and a few other parts...the work you had done on the initial partial build was impeccable and I appreciate your generosity, which included additional parts you freely gave to me.
The rest of the parts I picked up over a few years on eBay, until I got serious about building the rifle. It's a pre-64, and all parts are period correct, except, i think, for the mag tube plug, where the slotted version is of an earlier vintage (but I liked it better).
Here are some pics of the finished product...nothing exceptional, but I like it:

So, heading to the range I threw in the bag a box of PMC 170gr FNSP with eight shells left. Per my previous thread, I wanted to make sure the rifle shot safely, so the first shot was with some trepidation, and as you can see, considerably low. I needn't have worried...the rifle performed flawlessly and there was no evidence of any headspace issues.
After that, I adjusted the rear sight in increments and walked up to the target. I was pleased with the last three shots in the black (the target was already up at the range, so the ones covered in tape are not mine), even though they are nothing exceptional (and the range is only 25 yards), as it indicated that the rifle is a shooter and the only improvements will come from behind the rifle. This is my first time with buckhorn sights, as my other Win 94's have a scope, peep or ladder sights, so it took a few shots to get used to the sight picture (with still more work to do). I look forward to getting comfortable with this rifle at longer ranges and with different ammo.
