Missing Shooting my 1876.... Do you have one you miss?
Not missing targets but missing shooting at all!
I've had no time for that. Family responsibilities have kept me hopping and I haven't been able to get to the range or even to the casting pot to produce projectiles. This has been particularly true for my 1876 NWMP carbine. I miss pulling the trigger on this baby. I have lots of load development to do. I'd like to get it ready for this deer season (practice).
So, is there one levergun you've missed shooting with as much as you'd like?

I would have to say my 1876 SRC - I haven't fired it yet and have been biting at the bit to do so. Also I am looking forward to shooting my 1894 32 spl which I have not shot either. I suck!!!! Busy time of year for me.

Been cooped up all Winter with sick kids.....very little chance to shoot my 356 Win. (Mod. 94) and my fairly new Marlin 39A that I bought last year for my middle son. It's been killing me that I need to get out and shoot these. I'm hoping to get the rare chance to escape the kids/house and Elk Hunt with my Dad this October in Colorado, so I need to start working up some heavy loads with the 356 Win. and practicing.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Right now I miss all of them.......This has got to be the longest winter I can remember around here AND I've been lazy and not feeling quite well......

Now Hobie I got loads worked up for most of the guns hanging around here, so if you want to send that 76 out I'm sure I could have it woke up and running fine by the time deer season opens.

Missing my Browning 1886 and I've never even fired it yet. Picked it up on Saturday, had a day to fondle it then I had to repack it and send it to a specialist firearms exporter for shipment back to England with my other guns. Likely I won't have it back in my hands for up to 6 months. My reloading gear is in a container on a dock in New Jersey so once I have used up the rounds for my antiques I am done shooting with anything.

Boy I am glad I'm not alone. A month ago mother nature capped off the long Ohio winter with 3/4" of ice on Tuesday and 25" of snow on Saturday.the oaks in the backyard and all the trees in the woods looked like a bomb went off. All of My free time has been trying to get things cleaned up. I haven't shot but once since February then it was the 32-20.
I was burning treetops in the woods yesterday and saw a Bald Eagle that circled overhead for more than A minute. My Wife happened to be with Me
and saw it also. It's the first one I have seen here in 29 years.
Hopefully I will shoot some next week. And I want to shoot the 38-55.Jim.

Hobie, sounds like you are in the stage of life where kids, wife, house & job crowd in on you. I know it's frustrating, but, trust me, it won't last. In a few years when the kids are grown, you and the wife settle into a routine, and the job isn't pressing so hard, you're actually going to miss this. Expecially the kids part. Then you'll have plenty of time for hobbies. But you will wish the kids were around to share them with you.

I miss shooting my Legacy 454 Puma Levergun (Model '92) that Mic McPherson built for me. It has developed a headspace issue, and Mic has been too busy to get around to fixing it. I most likely stretched the receiver some with some hot loads (the action has been stretched to accomidate longer cartridges), but who knows. The important thing is that by not shooting it, the bolt is undamaged, and everything can be repaired. I just need to get the repairs done.
However, I have to say, in the last few weeks, I have done quite a bit of shooting: The SoCal Levergunners Family Reunion, and twice during my spring break including the Billy Dixon Range. I'll be shooting again this weekend as well. So, overall, its a good turn of events. Sure miss that Puma though.

I have wanted to shoot my Browning 92 .357 and Smith & Wesson 24 .44 Special for a couple of months now. Have been packing the Smith on my walks but have not shot it recently. Decided today that I would take them both out, just two guns and enjoy a good range day. Went with my youngest Son who took a Kimber 1911 and we tuned our skills on several dozen tin cans. Shooting at 25 yards we went through a couple hundred rounds and called it a day.

My kids are gone (one in NOVA, one with the grandkids and one in FL), I'm "retired", currently financially comfortable and the wife works so is out most of each weekday, but I do work 2 days a week. There is however a familial responsibility for which my peculiar situation is suited (and I think planned) that sucks up a lot of free daylight time. We've hired help but that is for one of my work days.jeepnik wrote:Hobie, sounds like you are in the stage of life where kids, wife, house & job crowd in on you.
