OT-"The Rifleman", jacking a round??
I have been a fan of "The Rifleman" series since I was a kid. I have never been foolish enough to try it but have wondered when he twirls the rifle 360 degrees to chamber another round would that not jam the reciever??
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

This article will show you how it worked. http://www.riflemansrifle.com/may1960.htm
As I have mentioned in previous postings, I worked on one of those rifles when I worked for a rebluing business in the 50's-60's. A small pin and spring was installed in a bored hole above the chamber as you can see from the drawing. This kept the blank round from stovepiping when the rifle was inverted. As there was no pressure of any great amount an a 5 in 1 blank, the weakened chamber was not a problem.

Dastook,
Chambering a round, while spinning a rifle, is possible. ...however, not all rifles will do it. Most will. A few of them will not.
The open top of the Winchesters might let a round fly out of the action, if you can't keep up your rotaional speed.
Then, of course, bullet shape may get in your way, too, and jam your action.
Swinging the rifle under your arm & behind you causes a pause in the motion of the rifle, so that it stops abruptly, and the round can easily fly out of the action.
Now, my little Henry, with the large loop lever, holds the round in place, so that it is secure at all angles, and during all maneuvers. The ammo does not fall out of that action.
...all with dummy rounds, of course!
