Gun combos - 1 of 17

Post by Ysabel Kid »

Well, I realized that I have been posting or responding to more OT threads than levergun or gun threads lately, so I just sat down with the camera and blitzed off a bunch of "gun combo" pictures. Some are levers - some aren't. Had wanted to do this when winter was still here - follow up on mod71alaska's "breaking the winter blues" idea. Posted a few then, but not enough.

So, without further ado, here is "gun combo 1" for your viewing pleasure:

Image

Of course I started out with a lever - it would be crazy not to do so! But the combos will be in no specific order.

Image

This is a Marlin 39A mountie with a Ruger Single Six. Both are .22's of course, and they make a natural pair.

I know - what's that strange tube on top of that lever? Oh well, I only have one lever with a scope mounted, and this is it.

KirkD in the photography department I am not - so please bear with me. But hey, I did manage to take all 54 photos this evening without once snapping a picture of my feet! (sorry salvo!)

Enjoy!

PS - you have to wait a day for each of the remaining combos! Besides, those with slow connections would KILL me if I tried to post them all at once!

Nice!

I'd like to have a .22 revolver to go with my 39
Kind regards,

nice combo - I really enjoyed shooting my Dad's single six as a kid and I think that is where I developed fondness over single actions.

A pre-safety Marlin 39? with a 3 screw Ruger Super Single-Six. Now, that is a combo.

I got almost the same combo, but my lever gun is a Win 9422.

Way to YK, on topic threads for change. I'm looking forward to the other 16 combos.

I've got close to that combo, if I'd like it that way, a Marlin 39 (without the tube/handle thingie) and a first year Bearcat...
Sincerely,

thats very nice. Did you buy them new or did you just happen to find them with that condition? I think that is a detachable handle. Send it up to me and I will get off there for you. :D

I actually managed to snap 54 pictures without one shot of my slippers. And I did it at 1:00am in the morning!!! Go figure - miracles never cease!!!

Joe, I agree - which is why I started with this one. The Marlin was my Dad's. Manufactured in 1966. I've shot it a ton - it's taken a lot of tree rats in it's day. It has had the scope on and off throughout those years.

The Ruger was also made in 1966. I bought that one about 15 years ago. Was looking for an old three-screw Single Six with the spare .22 Magnum cylinder. Patience paid off, and I grabbed it at a local gun show for a great price. Had it's original box, manual, and the felt pouch for the spare cyliner to boot. It's a sweetheart too!

No safeties on the Marlin and no cross-bar safety on the Ruger... life is good!!! :D

Hey - are you implying that I, perhaps, post too many OT threads?!?

That gives me another idea - after I am done with this run, I'll post some combos I have already assembled for "Ysabel Kid's Kid", including a Henry "large loop" with a Ruger Bearcat! Thanks Hobie!!!

Mike -

I was typing my reply above when yours came in. Both were acquired used - the Marlin from my Dad when I was 16 (1980) when he passed away, and the Ruger around 1992 or so, from a gun show. The Ruger was practically NIB - I doubt it had a box through it, and I got it for a song. Needless to say, I'd rather still be waiting on that Marlin...

No, I remember how to take off that handle. Actually, that's a great idea for a range session... :D

I have my SP101/M92 combo... but there's a guy at my club who's trying to get me to buy a matched pair of SS Vaqueros to play CAS with...

I dunno. I'm still holding out for a better job so I can afford to do the British Buldog character with a pair of 1872 Webley Bulldog repros or 1887 Webley MK1 repros in .357 to match a Drilling in 20x20x.357...
