OT-Bali Aussie

Post by gundownunder »

The wife and kids just got back from a ten day holiday in Bali and among the pics they brought back with them was one taken of a plaque on the wall of the BaliAussie restaurant and I thought it spoke volumes

Excelent!
I have run into a few soldiers of OZ here in the States and in the sand box. Hard to find a better bunch to call mates. Darn glad we have you all to call friends.

My Dad fought alongside Aussies in the South Pacific in several campaigns thru the Admiralty Islands, New Guinea, Indonesia, and the Phillipine Islands, and he had nothing but praise for his brother Aussies. He even considered retiring there back in '74 but my Mom would have nothing to do with that plan.

That speaks more volumes than we know. I think in this case it is about the children. What we need to do is stop the older generation from brainwashing the younger generation.

America's most consistent and dependable ally has always been Australia. The ties between our peoples in history, temperment and love of freedom are very strong. Always glad to know we're on the same side!!! :D

Bali although being a part of Indonesia the largest Muslim country in the world it is culturally and religiously separate the Balinese people being mostly Hindu in religion so less of the tabu that Muslim Indonesia suffers. The rest Muslim Indonesia is against idols but in Hindu Bali beautiful local handmade wood carvings of just about anything can be picked up as souvenirs for good prices. Nothing against partying in the Hindu religion so Bali is allot more festive than the rest Indonesia. That is why Bali is the most popular destination for Westerners in all of Indonesia.

Bali is probably 70-80% Hindu, a type of Hindu anyway, they like their beef! Nice people, beautiful mountains and coast and great arts & crafts. On the north end of the island there's suppose to be some excellent diving.
