Seems much closer to the original idea JMB had.......the changes the BAR went through between what Browning originally designed and built in 1918 and what the US Army issued in WWII took the rifle from 14-15 pound rifle capable of suppressive fire to a 22 lbs fixed position weapon.
Check out what the Swedes did with their BARs between WWi and WWII........that is what JMB was talking about.

Yeah, go ahead and carry that for a while.
I will see it abandoned in the bottom of a dry wash.

My HK91 is roughly the same weight fully loaded... and when I was In, I preferred to carry the M60 on patrol AND road marches...Mescalero wrote:Yeah, go ahead and carry that for a while.

A heavy rifle doesn't bother me all that much - and the recoil dampening system they came up with looks really interesting.

Re: My kind of CAR.
I just checked your profile and at that age I probably would not have cared about the weight either.
At 62, I am real aware of how much I have to carry.

Re: My kind of CAR.
The current M249 is 23lb loaded with 200 rounds.
The M240B is 27 (unloaded).
There is a new titanium 240L which is still 7.62 but around M249 weight.
It's not fun to carry, but starting the party at 400-500m with 10 or 12 little friends is always a nice option. Having carried both....a lot. Mostly in close quarters work or vehicle mounted, but enough to know.
The HCAR has serious possibilities, there are times when a heavier caliber (without needing 100+ rounds at a time) are needed.
And the 22lb BAR was far from a 'fixed position weapon'.....having done room clearing with a fully loaded M249, as well as assaulted a few hills and objectives with one.
The FN variant BAR with the removable quick change barrel was definitely a better idea at the time.

OI,
I really, really like that! The "Russian" is a funny guy and I've seen most of his videos when he destroys Glocks and all. One thing for sure, that guy can shoot.
What puzzles me is why the gun is chambered in 30-06 and not 308. Not that there's anything wrong with the 06, it's just that you don't see it chambered anymore in the military style guns.
The gun is heavy, but not heavier than an M1-A------6

Because it's based on the platform that they make - the BAR - which is .30-06.Sixgun wrote:...

I guess they are talking about a couple of other calibers, but the gun is still basically a semi-auto 1918 BAR with modern material upgrades.

Re: My kind of CAR.
After an extended "jog" with an M60 anything lighter is a dream date...

A good friend of mine is the nephew of a WW2 MOH recipient who used a BAR to take out several snipers and MG nests, he was a phenomenal shot. danny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Schauer

The most important aspect of this signature line is that you don't realize it doesn't say anything significant until you are just about done reading it & then it is too late to stop reading it....
