Intro and question

Post by mike7.62 »

Hello everyone,
I'm new here and look forward to reading about leverguns. I have a question for the experts, if you would be so kind. I have a Miroku made Browning replica of an 1895 Winchester in .405, and a M71 in .348 of the same heritage. I wish to put receiver sights on them and was looking for a good source for the sights, as well as whether or not the mounting holes are metric or standard. Thanks in advance

Mike,

My Miroku made Browning 1886 is not d&t'd for such, so I can't answer that question. But, welcome to the Forum.

My Browning HG 71 came D&T'd for the Lyman 66A sight. I believe the original used by Winchester was the Lyman 56, but the 66 is about the same although made in aluminum these days. I'm sure the proper screws probably come with the sight but I have not mounted one on the Browning. I had another on an old Winchester 71 Standard but removed it some years ago.

Not sure which is the proper part number for the 95 though.

Welcome to the fire!

My Browning M71 wears the Lyman 66WB receiver sight. The rifle comes D&T'd for it, the mounting holes are standard. The Lyman item number for the sight is 3662265.
Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you somethin'. That ain't an optical illusion, it only LOOKS LIKE an optical illusion.

Just an update for those that have answered. I found a repro of a Lyman 21 at Buffalo Arms and ordered it today. It was priced at $125 plus shipping of $12.99. I also found the Lyman 66 at Brownell's for ~$70. Thanks again for the help.
