Most realistic wild west TV shootout
If hollywood ever made you mad because they made it
look like guns could shoot hundreds of rounds without
reloading......
I mentioned this last week roughly but at http://HULU.com
they are showing some old episodes of favorite TV shows.
I found an old western series called Alias Smith and Jones
and in episode number 9 called "Stagecoach Seven" about
43 minutes into the 50 minute show there is a gunfight between
two gangs of seven.
During the gunfight they show closeups of pulling ammo
out of a 38-40 ammo box to feed their lever actions
and also show them extracting and reloading 45 cal ammo
into their single action sixguns.
It was actually informative to me as all my revolvers swing
open and I can drop all six casings at once. In this episode
it shows the old pistols extracting the empties one
at a time as you spin the cylinder.
Truely Awesome !
During this TV writers strike I dont know why they dont
just resort to all reruns of great shows like these!
I have a feeling their business model is to spend a few million
to build up a huge traffic like youtube and facebook
and then sell the site for hundreds of millions. Expect more
advertising at that time.

Yeah remember the old saying "I just catch it on the reruns?" I watched an episode of McHales Navy.
The reason they don't march out all the old shows during the writers strike is because once they did people wouldn't want the new stuff back ever. All the filth and perversion that's on now days just isn't fit to watch IMHO.
I think I remember from my school daze that there are only 7 different basic plots any way.

If you're gonna be stupid ya gotta be tough-

It's easier to fool people than it is to convince them they have been fooled.

Alias Smith and Jones was one of my favorite shows in the early 70's.
If I remember right The Hannibal Hayes character carried a 5 inch barreled Schofield Smith and Wesson which you rarely saw in westerns back then.
Man I wanted one of those!
They make replicas now but at $800 each it will be a long time before I get one.

Well, I'm here in the Great White North (now turning brown as the snow melts) and I can get on.big bear wrote:Won't allow Canadian users, looks cool

There is a magazine called something like "Guns of the Old West" .
Saw it at grocery store other day while wife was grabbing grub and
on the cover is an old wild west pistol like in the show that has a loading
gate where each bullet goes in and each empty case comes out.
I'm still surprised that no one has commented on the 38-40 visible
markings on the ammo box that the guy loading the lever action
was grabbing his ammo from. Also, did anyone notice how the
kid had to pull the hammer back on each shot on his single action
pistol. Most shows just show guys shooting hundreds of blanks
without ever reloading or cocking their guns etc.
