Marlin 1894 with good wood.
I have been searching for awhile now for a Marlin 1894 with good wood. I finally found one. The wood is not exceptional, but it is pretty good. I also got a good deal on the rifle($390). So I am happy. Rifle only has one rub mark on the reciever. I ordered it from a place in Maine. Some one on another site found the rifle and told me about it. Tom.

Pictures
In the pictures the fellow sent me the forearm seems to match. But I have not received the rifle yet. A fellow from another site handled the rifle in Maine. He is the one that told me about the rifle, he said the whole rifle looked 98%. The gun shop sent me 8 pictures of the rifle. The were a pretty first class place to deal with.
I just tried to buy a 223 from Bud's Gun Shop in KY, but I could not get any cooperation from them at all. I am glad now that I did not buy from them. I like this Marlin a lot better.
It is pretty hard to find a Marlin with a decent piece of wood on it, for a good price. I have been looking for close to a year. Now all I need is a good peep sight for it. Anybody got one they want to part with??
Oh Ya the place in Maine is called Kittery"s. Tom.

Tom,
I do believe thaat wood is much better than "pretty good." That's "finer 'n frog hair" in my book! IMO, that's more like "semi-" to "fancy" if the figure extends thu to both sides of of the stock. Exceptional wood on a Marlin.

Holes
The rifle has two screw holes on the left side. I assume that is for a peep sight?? My other Marlin 1894 did not have these screw holes. Tom.
Re: Pictures
Congrats on very nice lookin' rifle! I have puchased from Kittery before online and also in person at the store. It's a great place to gun shop. Somewhere around 1500 guns on the floor for you to pick up and examine with no hassles. Funny, but the two biggest gun shops I've ever set foot in were both in Maine....the other had 2500 guns, most all of them also set out to handle.HEAD0001 wrote:In the pictures the fellow sent me the forearm seems to match.
