Chester Nez, the last of the Navajo code talkers died today. He was 93.
RIP Chester.

I heard this on the evening news. They said he lied about his age and enlisted when he was in the 10th grade.

I spoke to some Navajo when I visited Monument Valley and they were very proud of their Wind Talkers.

There was a war against the Navajo led by Kit Carson in 1863 which led to the Long Walk when the Navajo were force marched 300 miles to New Mexico, thousands died.

I have a friend/associate who is a Navajo and is director of a power plant.
The Pueblo owners of course don't live there, rather they run family businesses there.

I met several Navajo whilst in Arizona and Utah, they all seemed prosperous and happy with a good sense of humor.
Their dogs on the other hand looked mean and hungry.....

Also the Navajo Res. in AZ is the only place I have seen Red fox in the state.

Met a man and wife team that trapped the Navajo RES. and they said the dogs were a real pain,

always thought it was a bit odd the Navajo won't kill coyotes, but they will let you do it for a price.
