Marlin model 336-A in .32 Special

Post by Winjester »

I need help with this one. My brother back in Minnesota just let me know that he purchased a marlin model 336-A in .32 special. The serial # E291XX shows that it was manufactured in 1948. The "A" designation shows that it is a rifle, and is supposed to have a 24" barrel. However, his has an unaltered 20" barrel.
Anyone have any input on this?
Thanks

I haven't personally seen the gun, but that's what he says. Do you think it could have been a special order?

More likely just roll-marked incorrectly.
Sincerely,
